He served on the Waynesboro School Board.

He was a member of BPO Elks Lodge 731, Waynesboro.

He is survived by his third wife, Geraldine Rogers Leman, whom he married Feb. 24, 2001; one daughter, Linda Stevenson of Waynesboro; one son, Stephen Leaman of Manhattan Beach, Calif.; two sisters, Edith Conrad of Lititz, Pa., and Kathryn Flaig of Union, Ky.; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Doris McCrea; two sisters, Thelma Smith and Elizabeth Morrison Haus; and four brothers, Alvon Leaman, John Leaman, Richard Leaman and Robert Leaman.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, Waynesboro.

There will be no public viewing.

In lieu of flowers, it was his desire that memorial contributions be made to Antietam Humane Society, 8513 Lyons Road, Waynesboro, PA 17268.

Margaret E. Winters

Margaret Elaine Halligan Winters, 87, of 14014 Marsh Pike, and formerly of 742 Northern Ave., Hagerstown, died Thursday, Nov. 14, 2002, at Avalon Manor Health Care Center.

Born Nov. 9, 1915, in Hagers-town, she was the daughter of the late Roy Ellsworth and Frieda Mae Dusang Turner.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Thomas Edward Halligan Sr., and her second husband, John Martin Winters.

She was a 1933 graduate of Hagerstown High School and received her teaching certificate from the University of Maryland.

She was a teacher in the Montgomery County (Md.) School System from 1964 until her retirement in 1978. From 1947 until 1973, she owned the Fair Lady Beauty Salon in Hagerstown.

She was a member of Riverdale Presbyterian Church, College Park, Md.

She was a member of the Maryland State Teacher's Association and National Education Association.

In 1959, Gov. J. Millard Tawes appointed her to the Maryland State Board of Cosmetologists. From 1960 to 1964, she was chairman of the State Board of Cosmetology. She helped promote successful legislation for cosmetology improvement in the State of Maryland. From 1961 until 1964, she held offices on the executive board of Interstate Boards of Cosmetology.

She is survived by two daughters, Cecelia H. Sadtler of Banks, Ore., and Kathleen H. Reed of Hagerstown; one son, Thomas E. Halligan Jr. of Blue Ridge Summit, Pa.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Dr. Curtis L. Turner.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home, Hagerstown. Private services and burial will be held in Funkstown Cemetery by the family.

Terry L. Stitley

SHARPSBURG - Terry Lee Stitley, 43, of 17467B Millers Sawmill Road, died Saturday, Nov. 16, 2002, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Jan. 24, 1959, in Mount Airy, Md., she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Daisy Stitley.

She was a homemaker.

She is survived by her companion of 20 years, Douglas E. Leatherman; two sons, Ronald A. King of Sharpsburg, and Bruce Beall of Point of Rocks, Md.; one daughter, Tina Beall of Frederick, Md.; three sisters, Sandy Saxby, Mary Stitley and Susan Stitley; four brothers, David L. Stitley, Ernest Stitley, Dale Stitley and Richard E. Stitley; nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Brenda G. Stitley.

Graveside services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Locust Grove Church of the Brethren Cemetery, Mount Airy. The Rev. R. Thomas Fralin Jr. will officiate.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Bast Funeral Home, Boonsboro.

Grace E. Casto

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Grace E. Casto, 84, of 258 Leedy Way West, died Sunday, Nov. 17, 2002, at her home.

Born Dec. 31, 1917, in Bay City, Mich., she was the daughter of the late John and Mary Alice Cawley Bowden.

She was a retired medical secretary for the Surgical Unit at Tacoma (Wash.) General Hospital.

She was a member of Chambersburg Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Thomas E. Casto, whom she married Feb. 10, 1940; one son, Robert T. Casto of St. Helens, Ore.; one daughter, Linda S. Fry of Chambersburg; one sister, Alberta Cody of Traverse City, Mich.; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by four brothers and seven sisters.

Services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, Chambersburg. The Rev. Jimmie E. Knox will officiate. Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg.

Visitation will be today from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.
