Editor's note - Please be as brief as possible when calling Mail Call, The Daily Mail's reader call-in line.

Mail Call is not staffed on weekends or holidays so it is best to call Mail Call during the week. The Mail Call number is 301-791-6236.

You are welcome to leave a recorded message on any subject, but some calls will be screened out.

Here are some of the calls we have received lately:

"I wanted to comment on that terrible accident that happened out in California a few days ago regarding the inclement weather. To make a suggestion to some people around here who drive real fast in bad weather, this should be a reminder to people that we need to drive slow in inclement weather. If someone is in front of you, you are supposed to leave a certain amount of space between each vehicle. It is too dangerous to be that close to someone, because if that person would have to stop suddenly, then you are going to hit them."

"I lost my pocketbook at the Dynasty Restaurant or nearby. It is a navy leather with the zipper across the top. If it has been found, please return it to Dynasty. I need my cards, keys and photographs. Thanks so much."

"On this Washington County Hospital issue, how come they don't let the people vote as to where it will go? How can a handful of people decide where it should go? Of course, the mayor wants it downtown. But they are going to put it where they want to anyhow, so it doesn't really matter. But I think the people should be allowed to vote on where it should go."

"I can say one thing, I can certainly live with a few of the people that were elected county commissioners. But I want to remind the Washington County residents that have been screaming about growth. Get ready for Frederick County, you are going to have a big surprise four years from now. You aren't going to know that this is the same place. It is going to be very interesting."

"Republican sickness, worse than the flu. Seniors remember, we do have a lot of turncoat Democrats. The golden years will be more tarnished now."

"It's a wonderful day for the Constitution and the Second Amendment. The only question is, what were you people in Philadelphia and Pennsylvania thinking about? Now you will get what you deserve."

"I feel it is a disgrace to Hagerstown, that the Hagerstown Landlords Association had members at the polls on election day, trying to solicit candidates for their referendum vote."

"I am a lady who lives in Williamsport and I have two young girls and about two months before Christmas, the girls always go through their toy room to gather up toys to give away before Christmas. I have Barbies and Barbie furniture and some other toys that I would like to give away. Does anyone know of any business or donation area that they can be dropped off? Call Mail Call and let me know."

"Concerning the doctor on TV, about this herb that he is advertising for prostate trouble. Is he for real, does this medication for prostate trouble work?"

"I want to tell Mr. Paul Swartz that it is this caller's opinion that he lost the re-election bid due to his stand on having a new ball stadium for Hagerstown and for the secrets behind the Howard matter."

"I was reading in the paper on people's idea on what to do with the snipers. They shouldn't put them on trial, they shouldn't even take them out and shoot them. That would be too good for them. Put them in a cage and let the victims loved ones come and do whatever they want to. Turn them loose on them and do what they please with them. Let these people go crazy on them."

"I am calling about the snipers. I think the judge should take them out and shoot them like they shot those innocent people. If they let them loose, they will do it again."

"When I called CASA about donating clothing for women they told me that they did not have room to store everything. They told me to take it to the Salvation Army because they are the only place in town that would accept vouchers from CASA for their clients to receive free clothing. It would be given to them from the Salvation through CASA."

"This is about the voting the other day and having to elbow our way through people who were fighting with each other because of this landlord registration thing and being set up within spitting distance of where you went in and did the actual voting. I think it's a disgrace. I registered a complaint to the State Elections Board. Voting is supposed to be where you can go in and concentrate on who you are voting for and the issues that are in front of you. You are not supposed to have to contend with a group of unruly people who are yelling at you about signing some dumb petition. That belonged outside, I don't care if they got soaked. That should have been outside, away from the voting area."
