Cleda F. Bennett

FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. - Cleda F. "Betsy" Waggy Bennett, 85, of 4531 Cold Spring Road, died Thursday, Nov. 7, 2002, at Waynesboro Hospital, Waynesboro, Pa.

Born May 18, 1917, in Sugar Grove, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late William and Ida Bowers Waggy.

She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Golden H. Bennett, in 1986. They were married in April 1938.

She attended Sugar Grove schools in West Virginia.

Prior to retiring in 1983, she was a supervisor in the housekeeping departments at Samuel Dixon State Hospital, now known as South Mountain Restoration Center, for 27 years.

She is survived by a son, Robert F. Bennett of Fayetteville; a grandson; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Nellie McInturff; three brothers, Roy Waggy, Stanley Waggy and Paul Waggy; and a half sister, Cloda Kite.

Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad Street, Waynesboro. The Rev. Dr. Mervil R. Stambaugh will officiate. Burial will be in Strang's Cemetery, South Mountain, Pa.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Luella M. Shoop

LEITERSBURG - Luella M. Shoop, 94, of Leitersburg, died Thursday, Nov. 7, 2002, at Quincy United Methodist Home.

Born Dec. 27, 1907, in Chewsville, she was the daughter of the late Otha R. and Flora E. Kuhn Smith.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William R. Shoop, in 1990.

She was a homemaker.

She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Leitersburg.

She is survived by a daughter, Connie L. Tracy of Leitersburg; a son, Edgar E. Shoop of Greencastle, Pa.; a sister, Margaret L. Ferguson of Smithsburg; a step-grandson; a step-great-granddaughter; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a son, Harold R. Shoop, and five sisters.

Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Davis Funeral Home, Smithsburg. The Rev. Pat Hendricks will officiate. Burial will be in Smithsburg Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Margaret A. Hollenshead

GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Margaret Amelia Seacrest Hollenshead, 84, of 2888 Buchanan Trail West, died Thursday, Nov. 7, 2002, at her home.

Born June 15, 1918, in Franklin County, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Amelia Strimatter Seacrest.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph N. Hollenshead, in 1988.

She was a 1936 graduate of Greencastle High School.

She was a homemaker. Earlier, she worked at the former Fairchild Aircraft in Hagerstown. Just prior to her death, she was working as a library aide at the Greencastle-Antrim Middle School Library.

She attended Trinity Lutheran Church in Greencastle where she was a member of Lutheran Church Women.

She is survived by two sisters, Jessie M. Keller and Patsy A. Daley, both of Greencastle; two nieces; a nephew; a great-niece; and two great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, John Seacrest and Paul S. Seacrest.

Services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, Greencastle. The Rev. William W. DeHass will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Greencastle.

The family will receive friends Monday at 1 p.m. at the church.

Irene L. Kugler

QUINCY, Pa. - Irene L. Beckwith Kugler, 91, of Quincy United Methodist Home and formerly of 104 E. Leitersburg St., Greencastle, Pa., died Thursday, Nov. 7, 2002, at Waynesboro Hospital in Waynesboro, Pa.

Born Feb. 23, 1911, in Franklin County, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Samuel E. and Blanche B. Diehl Beckwith.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph E. Kugler, in 1994. They were married Oct. 6, 1928.

She attended Brown's Mill Schools in Kauffman Station, Pa.

She was employed by Gem Garment and Victor Hosiery, both in Greencastle.

She was a member of Grace United Church of Christ in Greencastle.

She was a member of Frank L. Carbaugh American Legion Post 373 Ladies Auxiliary of Greencastle.

She is survived by a daughter, Loretta L. Koons of Greencastle; a son, Robert L. Kugler of Greencastle; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Donald J. Kugler and Jack E. Kugler.

Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Miller-Bowersox Funeral Home, Greencastle. The Rev. Donald E. Reese will officiate. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Greencastle.
