Letterkenney chapel is site of veterans service

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - The annual Community Veterans Day Service will be at 4 p.m. Monday in the Letterkenny Chapel at the Letterkenny Army Depot in Chambersburg.

The service is jointly sponsored by the United Churches of the Chambersburg Area and the Joint Veterans Council of Chambersburg.

The guest speaker will be retired Army Chaplain Charles F. Kriete, of Carlisle, Pa. He is a former commandant of the Army Chaplain School and has also served on the faculty of the Army War College for seven years. He was the first chaplain to be awarded the secondary military occupation specialty of strategic analyst, serving in that capacity in the Army Strategic Studies Institute.

Music for the service will be provided by Ferree LeFevre, organist at St. John's United Church of Christ in Chambersburg, soloist Katie Rictor and pianist Rhonda Cordell.

Letterkenny Commander Col. William Guinn will represent the Army.

Charles Nitterhouse VFW Post 1599 will present and retire the colors and lead military honors in front of the chapel as the service concludes. The offering at the service will be designated for the American Red Cross for assistance to families of Armed Forces personnel.
