Paul W. Gletner

BRUNSWICK, Md. - Paul William "Putz" Gletner, 67, of 106 E. A Street, died Thursday, Nov. 7, 2002, in Lovettsville, Va.

Born May 27, 1935, in Brunswick, he was the son of the late George V. and Evelyn Remsburg Huffer Gletner.

He was employed by the YMCA in Brunswick, retiring after 28 years.

He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Brunswick.

He is survived by his aunt and uncle, Harry and Marie Huffer of Brunswick; two nieces; one nephew; one great-niece; and one great-nephew.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Donlan Gletner.

Services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Donald B. Thompson Funeral Home, Middletown, Md. The Rev. Steve Butler will officiate. Burial will be in the Lutheran Cemetery, Middletown.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Donald H. Crider Sr.

ROUZERVILLE, Pa. - Donald H. Crider Sr., 71, of 11735 Pen Mar Road, died Thursday, Nov. 7, 2002, at Waynesboro (Pa.) Hospital.

Born Oct. 26, 1931, in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late Max H. and Alice Downin Crider.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Janet L. Downin Crider, in 1987. They were married in December 1959. He was preceded in death by his second wife, Dorothy L. Smith Brown Crider, in 2000. They were married in June 1988.

He attended Brown's Mill School in Kauffman Station, Pa.

He was employed by Waynesboro Knitting Mill; and by Landis Tool Co. in Waynesboro as a crane operator in the foundry, retiring in 1995.

He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War as a military policeman.

He was a member of William Max McLaughlin VFW Post 695 of Waynesboro, and National AARP.

He is survived by two daughters, Rosemary Portner of Zullinger, Pa., and Lorna L. Reely of Rouzerville, Pa.; one son, Donald H. Crider Jr. of Rouzerville, two brothers, Kenneth Crider of Greencastle, Pa., and Max H. Crider Jr. of Ohio; one half-brother, Richard Crider of Shady Grove, Pa.; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one son, Larry Cordell; and one brother, Charles Crider.

Services will be Monday at 1:30 p.m. at Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, Waynesboro. The Rev. H. Frank Kipe will officiate. Burial will follow in Harbaugh Church Cemetery, Rouzerville.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.




Edna W. Mellott

BIG COVE TANNERY, Pa. -Edna W. Mellott, 79, of 2943 Laurel Ridge Road, died Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2002, at Fulton County Medical Center, McConnellsburg, Pa.

Born Feb. 11, 1923, in Big Cove Tannery, she was the daughter of the late Alvah Todd and Enza Wink Williams.

She was preceded in death by her husband, King W. Mellott, in 1992.

She was a homemaker.

She was a member of Laurel Ridge Christian Church, Big Cove Tannery.

She is survived by two daughters, Sharleen Brady and Sandy Rouzer, both of Big Cove Tannery; one son, Rodney K. Mellott of Big Cove Tannery; three sisters, Wahneeta Kuhn of McConnellsburg, Ethel Rider of Eldersburg, Md., and Arietta Mellott of Big Cove Tannery; one brother, Maurice Williams of McConnellsburg; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Cecil Williams, Leroy Williams and infant brother Chalmer Williams.

Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Laurel Ridge Christian Church, Big Cove Tannery. Pastors David Hamilton and Duane Williams will officiate. Burial will be in Laurel Ridge Christian Cemetery, Big Cove Tannery.

Visitation will be Sunday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Sipes Funeral Home, McConnellsburg; and Monday at 10 a.m. at the church.

Gerald J. Ramsey Sr.

McCONNELLSBURG, Pa. -Gerald J. Ramsey Sr., 62, of 598 Ramsey Lane, died Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2002, at Harrisburg (Pa.) General Hospital.

Born April 16, 1940, in Johns-town, Pa., he was the son of the late Clair and Mary Truax Ramsey.

He was a truck driver for P&W Excavating in McConnellsburg, worked at H.J. Heinz in Chambersburg, Pa., and retired from the Army Reserve unit in Chambersburg.

He served in the U.S. Army.

He attended Calvary Independent Baptist Church, McConnellsburg.

He was a member of McConnellsburg Volunteer Fire Co.; McConnellsburg Fire Police and VFW Post 655 of McConnellsburg.

He is survived by his wife, Lou Sipes Ramsey, whom he married Aug. 16, 1958; one daughter, Laura Mickey; one son, Gerald Ramsey Jr. of McConnellsburg; one sister, Joyce Ramsey of Campbell, Ohio; one brother, Kermit Ramsey of Edenville, Pa.; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by an infant twin sister, Geraldine Ramsey; and two brothers, Charles Wilson and Duane Ramsey.
