Red Cross chapters are asking for blood donors

November 08, 2002

The list of blood types being sought by American Red Cross chapters in Washington County and surrounding communities is short but that's because all types are needed.

If there is a critical concern, it is for types O and B negative, of which there is a one-day supply, Red Cross officials said Thursday.

A two-day supply of types A positive, A and B negative is considered an urgent need.

To be eligible to give blood, one must be at least 17 years old, weigh at least 105 pounds, and be in generally good health.

Bloodmobiles are scheduled for:

  • Monday, Nov. 11, Smithsburg Fire Hall, 1 to 7 p.m.

  • Tuesday, Nov. 12, Williamsport American Legion, 1 to 7 p.m.

  • Wednesday, Nov. 13, Valley Mall in Hagerstown, noon to 6 p.m.

  • Thursday, Nov. 14, Hancock Community Center, 1 to 6 p.m.

  • Friday, Nov. 15, Tomahawk Elementary School, Hedgesville, W.Va., 2 to 7 p.m.
