Students at Greenbriar Elementary School are asking for community support as they continue to collect canned food for people in need.
The Harvest for the Hungry "Kids Helping Kids" food drive, which benefits local food banks, continues at the school through Friday.
Last year, students at more than 300 schools throughout Maryland collected more than 343,000 pounds of food. This year's goal is 500,000 pounds of food. Organizers ask that donors take nonperishable food items to Greenbriar Elementary.
