I back Dori Nipps

November 04, 2002

To the editor:

This letter is in support of Dori Nipps and her candidacy for a seat with the Washington County Commissioners.

The position I held with the Washington County Public Schools until my retirement this past June presented me with an excellent opportunity to observe Mrs. Nipps as an elected member of the Washington County Board of Education. In my opinion her decisions and actions were guided by common sense, compassion and a conviction that every child must have the opportunity to acquire a quality education. She also believes strongly that families and community must be involved with the school system for a top-flight education to occur. The decisions she has made and the initiatives she has proposed have helped bring the Washington County Public Schools the solid reputation it enjoys today.

In addition, I support Dori Nipps' candidacy because of her experience in working with county government. She is expertly familiar with local and state issues, the positives and negatives of county government and she will be extremely competent and determined to work with other commissioners to bring our county to a better quality of life. She is passionate in her determination to manage and control growth in our county, continue improvements in the education system, spend tax dollars prudently and to practice full disclosure of county business actions and procedures to we, the citizens, of Washington County.

It is my strong belief that Mrs. Nipps will use these qualities of compassion, grasp of the issues, common sense, fairness and a determination to make Washington County better for all of us should she be elected to the Washington County Board of Commissioners. As you deliberate on the five candidates you will support on Nov. 5, you can be sure that your vote for Dori Nipps will be a wise investment in the future of our county.

Thanks for taking the time to read this letter.
