Corliss and Morgan are tops

November 04, 2002

To the editor:

If you want good schools, vote for Corliss and Morgan for County Commission. Corliss and Morgan have committed to making developers of new homes pay for building new schools and other services. Their opponents have publicly said they will not charge developers the full cost, so schools and everything else would get more crowded.

Bad growth is not inevitable. Corliss and Morgan won a lawsuit that stopped a 400-home subdivision. They joined in other appeals that stopped other harmful subdivisions. As citizens, they help protect us from wild growth that violates our ordinances. They also work to bring us jobs and health care. Their opponents have been in office for decades, and created the problems we have now. Mickey was on the old school board and left schools in terrible shape. Lance was on the old County Commission, which gave us the bad zoning, growth and traffic we have now.

Corliss and Morgan will not let county population and traffic double. Their opponents will much more than double the county, since they publicly refuse any limits on growth.

While I am a lifelong Democrat, I urge voters to choose Corliss and Morgan. This election is reformers versus retreads, not Republicans versus Democrats.
