Deputies in Washington and Frederick counties were notified Thursday by Pine Bluff, Ark., police of the recovery of more than $30,000 in property including guns, jewelry, cameras and other items believed stolen recently from the Cascade area.

Investigator Greg Alton of the Washington County Sheriff's Department said he was told five people had been apprehended after a chase.

Lt. Larry Plunkett of the Pine Bluff, Ark., Police said his department got a tip about people in a car trying to sell guns. When the car was spotted, an officer gave chase.

That chase ended when the silver KIA with Georgia tags pulled into a driveway at around 11:50 a.m. Wednesday and crashed into a house.

The five occupants all ran but were quickly captured, Plunkett said. The vehicle contained a quantity of items found to have been stolen in the Washington/Frederick county area, he said.

"We don't have formal charges against these people yet," Plunkett said late Thursday afternoon. He said the five included a 22-year-old Cascade woman, two men from Waynesboro, Pa., one aged 18 and the other 26; a 50-year-old Pine Bluff, Ark., man, and a 25-year-old man from Powder Springs, Ga.

All were being held in the Pine Bluff jail on what Plunkett described as probable cause warrants.

In Washington County, Alton said he got a tip that led him to a residence on Reckord Avenue Thursday where other items believed stolen from the Cascade home were found.

The three stolen guns were a Marlin .30/30 lever-action rifle, a .257 Roberts Wildcat rifle and a Smith & Wesson Model 19 revolver, Alton said.

A digital camera and a video camcorder also were taken from the Ritchie Road home during the break-in between 8:30 and 11:30 a.m., Alton said.
