Brooke J. Damuth

THURMONT, Md. - Brooke James Damuth, 70, of Thurmont, died Friday, Oct. 25, 2002, at his home.

Born June 7, 1932, in Emmitsburg, Md., he was the son of the late Lester Earl Damuth Sr. and Reaba Ruth Poole Damuth.

He was a truck driver for Lowe's for 12 years. Earlier, he worked for Charles F. Stover Oil Co. for 23 years. He also helped to build the Site R Tunnel and worked for Merhle Staley Masonry.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He was a member of Edwin C. Creeger American Post 168 of Thurmont, VFW Post 6658 of Emmitsburg, Gettysburg, Pa., Moose Lodge 1526 and Vigilant Hose Co. of Emmitsburg.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Cecelia Rose Green Damuth; a son, Kevin W. Damuth of San Antonio; five sisters and brothers, Ruth A. Slonaker and George J. Damuth, both of Littlestown, Pa., Lester E. Damuth Jr. of Hampstead, Md., Arthur J. Damuth of Emmitsburg and Nora B. Fisher of Thurmont; two grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by four sisters and brothers, Catherine N. Valentine, Charles W. Damuth, Charlotte J. Condover and Agnes E. Cool.

A memorial service will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at Tom's Creek United Methodist Church, Emmitsburg. The Revs. Bill Warehime and Jeffrey D. Gehris will officiate.

Burial will be private.

The family will receive friends Monday at noon at the church.

Jerry Dietrich

Jerry "Hat" Dietrich, 59, of 21917 Academy Lane, Hagerstown, died Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2002, along with his wife from injuries received in an automobile accident.

Born April 5, 1943, in Waynesboro, Pa., he was the son of Jesse John Dietrich of Cearfoss and the late Cloe Estella Miller.

He owned and operated the Corvette Lounge in Hagerstown.

He was a 1961 graduate of North Hagerstown High School.

In addition to his father, he is survived by a son, Damon Dietrich of Hagerstown; a sister, Shirley Rogers of Smithsburg; a half sister, Linda Mercer of Charles Town, W.Va.; a granddaughter; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Highland View Academy Seventh-day Adventist Church, Hagerstown. Pastors Timothy E. Crosby and Vladimir Corea will officiate. Burial will be in Smithsburg Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Osborne Funeral Home, Williamsport, which will open at noon.

Memorial donations may be made to Y-Me of the Cumberland Valley, Breast Cancer Organization, 622 Potomac Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21740.




Mary Ellen Dietrich

Mary Ellen Dietrich, 61, of 21917 Academy Lane, Hagerstown, died Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2002, along with her husband from injuries received in an automobile accident.

Born April 9, 1941, in Columbus, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Wade Sr. and Clara Margaret Wiggers Young.

She was employed by Highland View Academy Cafeteria.

She was a 1959 graduate of Mount Aetna Academy.

She was a member of Willow Brook Seventh-day Adventist Church in Boonsboro.

She is survived by a stepson, Damon Dietrich of Hagerstown; two brothers, Thomas W. Young II of Boonsboro and John R. Young of Hagerstown; a half brother, Wade D. Young of Franklin, Tenn.; a step-granddaughter; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Esther F. Young.

Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Highland View Academy Seventh-day Adventist Church, Hagerstown. Pastors Timothy E. Crosby and Vladimir Corea will officiate. Burial will be in Smithsburg Cemetery.

Ralph E. White

Ralph Edwin White, 54, of 1818 Elizabeth Court, Hagerstown, died Friday, Oct. 25, 2002, at his home.

Born Dec. 7, 1947, in Portsmouth, Ohio, he was the son of the late Ralph Edwin White Sr. and Nellie Marie Windson White.

He was employed by Storage Technology Corp. in Columbia, Md.

He served in the U.S. Marines.

He is survived by his wife, Linda White; a daughter, Dawn Driscoll of Harrisonburg, Va.; and a son, David White of Leesburg, Va.

A memorial service will be held Monday at 7 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, East Wilson Boulevard, Hagerstown. The Rev. Darrell L. Layman will officiate.

The family will receive friends Monday from 6:30 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.




Lillian S. Babington

BOONSBORO - Lillian Susan Shank Babington, 88, of 5406 Amos Reeder Road, died Thursday, Oct. 24, 2002, at Reeders Memorial Home, Boonsboro.
