Assailants bind, rob occupants of Pa. home

LEMASTERS, Pa. - Five people were bound with tape in a Peters Township residence by four assailants who then robbed them, Pennsylvania State Police said.

Police said the assailants entered 4576 Lemar Road at 11 p.m. Tuesday, ordered the occupants on the floor and taped their hands together. They searched the residence and left with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The victims included four men and a juvenile female, police said.

Glass basement door smashed at church

GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Pennsylvania State Police are looking for the person who broke out a glass church door this week.

Between 9 p.m. Tuesday and 6 p.m. Wednesday, someone broke out a glass basement door at the Upton Church of the Brethren on Warmspring Road in Peters Township, police said.


Nothing was taken from or damaged inside the church, police said.

W.Va. man wanted by police captured in Md.

CUMBERLAND, Md. - A West Virginia man wanted by Washington County authorities for failing to show up in court was taken into custody Thursday afternoon after a Maryland State Police trooper stopped him for a seat belt violation.

Fred Allen Rulison Jr., 30, of Martinsburg, also faces drug, weapon and traffic charges, police said.

Trooper J.D. Crowe pulled Rulison over at 12:45 p.m. on Md. 220. A computer check revealed a bench warrant issued for Rulison by the Hagerstown City Police for failing to appearing in court on an obstruction of justice charge, police said.

A search of Rulison's vehicle uncovered suspected heroin, marijuana and prescription medications, a set of electronic scales and a switchblade knife, police said. He was charged with five counts of possession of controlled dangerous substance, possession with intent to distribute, possession of paraphernalia and possession of a deadly weapon, police said.

In addition, Rulison was allegedly driving while suspended in Maryland and New York, police said.

Rulison was being held without bond at the Allegany County Detention Center, police said.

Hagerstown man faces several drug charges

A Hagerstown man facing a number of drug charges following a sting operation on North Prospect Street was being held on $30,000 bond at the Washington County Detention Center Thursday night, jail officials said.

Ronald Lee Sheppard, 39, of 160 W. Washington St., Apt. 4, was charged Wednesday with distribution of crack cocaine, possession with intent to distribute crack, possession of crack and possession of drug paraphernalia, police said.

Md. man charged with cocaine possession

FREDERICK, Md. - One arrest was made Thursday night after members of the Frederick City Police drug enforcement unit conducted an undercover operation in the first block of West All Saints Street.

Travis Carnell Whiting, 22, of the first block of West All Saints Street, was charged with distribution of cocaine, possession with intent to distribute cocaine and possession of cocaine, police said.

Whiting was taken into custody at 8:04 p.m.
