Bands compete at state event

WESTMINSTER, Md. - Three Washington County high school bands competed last Saturday in the 16th annual Maryland State High School Band Competition at Westminster High School.

  • Williamsport High School drum major Ryan Miner took top honors in Group III competition.

    The band ranked seventh overall in the Group III competition.

  • North Hagerstown High School's flag squad was judged first in Group III competition.

    The band placed fourth in the overall competition in Group III.

  • Boonsboro High School's band competed in Group IV and came in third place overall.


The competition was sponsored by The Rotary Club of Towson, Md., said Karen Dohler, spokeswoman for Bruce Grau, executive director of the band championships.

The groups were based on size of the bands.
