PREP VOLLEYBALL



WILLIAMSPORT - Denise Sullivan recorded 14 assists and 10 service points Monday to lead No. 1 Williamsport to a 15-1, 15-5, 15-1 non-league sweep of Clear Spring.

Lindsey Plotner added 10 kills and three blocks for the Wildcats (12-1) while Kristin Weir had nine kills.

Sherri Bryan had four service points and seven digs for Clear Spring while Jamie Poffenberger added 13 digs and three kills. JV Williamsport, 2-0.

No. 2 Smithsburg 3, Brunswick 0


BRUNSWICK, Md. - Katie Franklin had 23 assists and 13 service points to lead Smithsburg over Brunswick, 15-3, 15-1, 15-2.

Amy Bentley had nine service points and four aces, Jenna Warrenfeltz had nine service points and two aces and Katy Powell had 17 kills for Smithsburg (16-1, 11-1). JV Smithsburg 2-0

No. 5 McConnellsburg 2, Waynesboro 1


MCCONNELLSBURG, Pa. -McConnellsburg dropped its first game of the season, but won the final two as to defeat Waynesboro, 8-15, 15-9, 15-11 to remain undefeated.

Stephanie Paylor had 11 service points and seven kills, Leslie Umbrell had 10 service points, Kera Karmack had 11 kills and Heidi Swope had 20 kill assists for McConnellsburg (16-0).

BOONSBORO - Kristina Nash had 19 kills to lead North Hagerstown over Boonsboro in four games, 15-11, 15-9, 12-15, 15-11.

Sarah Long had eight blocks and eight kills, Ashley Saylor had 10 kills, Sara Staley had 37 assists and Katie Plume had 12 service points for North (9-3, 5-3).

Sara Beth Williams had 13 service points and five kills, Sarah Harris had 13 blocks and nine kills and Jessie Ambrose had 11 assists and nine kills for Boonsboro (7-5, 4-3). JV Boonsboro, 2-0

MIDDLETOWN, Md. - Cathy Phillips had five kills and two blocks to lead Middletown, 15-9, 15-2, 15-6. Kristin Young had nine assists for the Knights (8-3).

St. John's-PH 3, Walkersville 2


WALKERSVILLE, Md. - St. John's-PH outlasted host Walkersville, 15-12, 10-15, 15-10, 13-15, 15-2.

Koffi Harrison had 16 service points and 11 kills, Iliana Jaatmaa had 13 service points and 19 kills, Emily Nicodemus had 14 service points and Megan Stitely had 13 service points for Walkersville (4-9).

THURMONT, Md. - Gerry Spessard scored the only goal of the game with a penalty kick for Smithsburg. Sean Hunt had 13 saves to earn his fifth shutout of the year for the Leopards (8-4-1, 5-2).

Walkersville 4, Boonsboro 2


WALKERSVILLE, Md. - Andrew Perez had two goals and an assist to lead Walkersville to a Monocacy Valley Athletic League victory over Boonsboro.

Ryan Beard had a goal and an assist while Robert Zeender had a goal. Will Cross and Adam Clay had assists for the Lions (6-7, 5-4).

Walkersville outshot Boonsboro, 15-6. John Humerick had four saves in goal for the Lions.

Broadfording 4, Heritage 3


Alan Myers scored the game-winning goal in the second overtime to lift Broadfording past Heritage.

Brent Royce, John Bishop and Tyler Gearheart also scored for Broadfording (3-12-1, 2-11-1). Myers and Bishop had assists and Brian Snyder recorded 18 saves in the victory.

Jesse Latta had two goals and one assist and Michael Scaricaciottoli had a goal for Heritage.

No. 2 Middletown 3, Brunswick 1


MIDDLETOWN, Md. - Shawn DeLauter, Lainy Nichols and Julie Harvey each scored a goal for Middletown.

Middletown outshot Brunswick 15-5.

Trista Haupt, Allie Shannon and Brenda Shakely each had an assist for the Knights.

Mary Kate Quin scored the only goal for Brunswick (5-6-1).

No. 3 T. Johnson 2, Westminster 1


FREDERICK, Md. - Brittany Wilson scored her second overtime game-winning goal of the season in the 94th minute to lead Thomas Johnson past Westminster in a Central Maryland Conference match.

Jen Thackston gave the Patriots (8-2-1, 5-0-1) a 1-0 with a goal in the 35th minute for the halftime lead. Westminster answered with a score to tie the game in the 76th minute.

Michelle Fickes had one goal and two assists to lead North Hagerstown (11-3, 5-3).

Corrie Jones, Emily Kelso, Helen Barnhart and Rachel Thomas each added a goal for the Hubs while Jen Miller and Brenna Bacon each had an assist.

North outshot Willaismport, 20-3.

No. 9 Clear Spring 3, Goretti 1


CLEAR SPRING - Lauren Ebersole had a goal and an assist to lead Clear Spring to a victory over St. Maria Goretti in the Blazers' regular-season finale.

Jackie Hornbaker and Tawnya Blair each added a goal for Clear Spring (8-5-2).

Morgan Adkins scored for the Gaels and Erin Goins recorded eight saves.




MEN'S SOCCER



Shenandoah 4, Shepherd 1


WINCHESTER, Va. - Shepherd fell to 8-7 for the season Monday in a loss to Shenandoah.

Shepherd got on the board first on a Chris Daniloski goal from Ray Williams, but Shenandoah's Will Scott tied the game before halftime, then added three more goals in the second half to beat the Rams.
