WWII re-enactors clash this weekend

The G.W. Lushbaugh Memorial World War II Event will be Saturday, Oct. 19, and Sunday, Oct. 20, on Monroe Road, Boonsboro.

Organizers with event sponsor Western Maryland Heritage Foundation expect hundreds of re-enactors representing both Allied and Axis armies along with equipment and vehicles, including jeeps, motorcycles and halftracks. Camps of U.S. and German infantry are planned. French Underground spy re-enactors will circulate.

Stories of WWII veterans will be collected and shared. The schedule includes a 1940s-style swing dance at 9 p.m. Saturday. The public is invited to the dance. Period dress is encouraged.

Daily tickets are $12, adults; $7, ages 6 to 12; free for 5 and younger. Tickets are limited to 3,000 per day. Parking is free; food vendors will be present.
