Vernon W. Munson

SMITHSBURG - Vernon Wayne Munson, 57, of Jefferson Boulevard, died Monday, Oct. 14, 2002, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Sept. 29, 1945, in Hancock, he was the son of the late Vernon Webster Munson and Mary Catherine Landers Munson Mazingo.

His wife, Patsy Hammersla Munson, died in 2000.

He was a graduate of Hancock High School.

He was employed by Grove Manufacturing in Shady Grove, Pa., and Blaine Window Hardware in Hagerstown.

He was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Hagerstown.

He is survived by a daughter, Helen C. Warner of Hagerstown; four sons, Dwayne Scott Munson of Union Bridge, Md., Samuel Edward Snyder of Hagerstown, William Owen Hines of Cumberland, Md., and Ernest Mitchell Hines of Waynesboro, Pa.; six sisters, Deanna Snider of Texas, Judy Michael, Connie Yost and Sheila Vinson, all of West Virginia, Sharon Rash of Pennsylvania and Cathy Baden of Maryland; two brothers, Dennis Munson of Maryland and Richard Munson of Pennsylvania; five granddaughters; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Davis Funeral Home in Smithsburg. Pastor Jim Hoffer will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.




Naomi E. Hargett

HANCOCK - Naomi E. Hargett, 52, of West Main Street, died Monday, Oct. 14, 2002, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Jan. 1, 1950, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of Ruth Pruden Beaudin of Essex, Md., and the late Art Beaudin.

She owned and operated Secret's Gallery and Coffee House in Hancock.

She was a member of Hancock Rotary Club, Hancock Lioness Club, Hancock Arts Council and Hancock Chamber of Commerce.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband of 32 years, Robert E. Hargett of Hancock; three daughters, Diana D. White of Stevensville, Md., Brandy L. Buss of Hancock and Crystal Hargett of Wilkes Barre, Pa.; a son, Ryan J. Hargett of Hancock; four sisters, Kathy Gatch and Ruthie Boone, both of Edgewood, Md., Dawn Cain of Dundalk, Md., and Cora A. Fox of Kensington, S.C.; two brothers, Pat Thomas of Essex, Md., and John R. Pruden of Nevada; and nine grandchildren.

A memorial service will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at St. Thomas' Episcopal Church, Hancock. The Revs. F. Allan Weatherholt and Anne O. Weatherholt will officiate.

The family requests the omission of flowers.

Memorial donations may be made to Allfirst Bank, 279 N. Pennsylvania Ave., Hancock, MD 21750.

Helen M. Mumma

Helen M. Mumma, 85, formerly of 997 Potomac Ave., Hagerstown, died Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2002, at Washington County Hospital.

Born April 16, 1917, in Pottsville, Pa., she was the daughter of the late William H. and Ethel Mellinger Fisher.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Charles E. Mumma, in 1976.

She was a 1935 graduate of Hagerstown High School.

She was a former legal secretary.

She was a member and past Sunday School teacher at Otterbein United Methodist Church in Hagerstown.

She was a member of B.P.O.E. Elks Lodge 378, Women's Auxiliary of Hagerstown and Women's Club of Hagerstown.

She is survived by a son, Richard W. Mumma of Hagerstown, four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Edward A. Mumma and Thomas H. Mumma; a sister, Dorothy Minnich; and a brother, George Fisher.

Services will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, North Potomac Street, Hagerstown. The Rev. Stephen Robison will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Hagerstown.

Visitation will be Thursday at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home.

Catherine H. Lehman

Catherine Harrison Lehman, 90, of 18849 Crofton Road, Hagerstown, died Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2002, at Ravenwood Lutheran Village, Hagerstown.

Born July 30, 1912, in Leitersburg, she was the daughter of the late George Rodney and Moss Lenore Reynolds Crowther.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Carson Scott Couchman, and her second husband, Richard H. Lehman.

She was a graduate of Hagerstown High School.

She was a retired registered nurse.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

She is survived by a son, Robert S. Couchman of Ballston Lake, N.Y.; a stepson, Douglas Lehman; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a sister and five brothers.

Services will be Friday at 1:15 p.m. at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, Hagerstown. Pastor Robert C. Lehman will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown.

There will be no visitation.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, 15 Randolph Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21740.




Kevin C. Sawyer

Kevin Carroll Sawyer, 54, of 1158 Outer Drive, Hagerstown, died Monday, Oct. 14, 2002, at Washington County Hospital.
