CLEAR SPRING - Town Council candidate Terry Baker sat in on Monday's council meeting to get an idea of what to expect.
What Baker got to see was an uncharacteristically short meeting with fairly routine business.
When he filed as a candidate, Baker said he wants to see Clear Spring stay the nice community it has always been. So he was interested to learn about a vandalism spree that hit the town over the weekend.
Mayor Paul Hose Jr. said there were reports of pumpkins being smashed, some porch decorations being disturbed and damage to bags of mulch at the Clear Spring Hardware Store on Cumberland Street.
The vote was unanimous to implement additional patrols from the Washington County Sheriff's Department at different times of the day and night so the problem can be curbed.
