Teen Read Week

Washington County Free Library System

Teens ages 13 to 18 can enter a drawing for a $25 gift certificate at Valley Mall by reading a book and filling out a form provided by the library, telling briefly why they would or would not recommend it to their friends. A form may be filled out for each book read. Forms can be filled out with the teen's name, phone number, age, recommendation and left at any of the seven branches or on the bookmobile.

The drawing will be held at the central library in Hagerstown Wednesday, Oct. 23.

Summit Health Healthcare Career Clubs


Open to area teens age 14 or older.

Clubs meet regularly from September to May (excluding December) to introduce area youth to career opportunities in health care. Health care professionals talk about their careers. There is a question and answer period and light refreshments.

The Chambersburg club meets Tuesday, Oct. 15 (the third Tuesday of each month), 6 to 7:30 p.m., Chambersburg Hospital, Lecture Room A, ground floor.

The Waynesboro club meets Thursday, Oct. 17 (the third Thursday of each month), 6 to 7:30 p.m., Waynesboro Hospital, Conference Room, first floor.
