Owen S. Wolff

Owen Shoemaker Wolff, 99, a resident of Julia Manor Health Care, and formerly of 12 S. Walnut St., Hagerstown, died Friday, Oct. 11, 2002, at the health care center.

Graveside services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Amberson Union Cemetery, Amberson. The Rev. Harold Posey will officiate.

There will be no visitation.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Community Rescue Service Inc., 110 N. Eastern Blvd., Hagerstown, MD 21740.

Arrangements are by Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home Ltd., Chambersburg.




Mary Ford

WILLIAMSPORT - Mary Ford, 43, of 11707 Pinesburg Road, died Thursday, Oct. 10, 2002, at her home.

Born June 29, 1959, in Washington, D.C., she was the daughter of Edward Crawford and Mary Ellen Ford.

She is survived by her caregivers, Kathy Hast, Deb Churchey and Sandra Weaver.

Services will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Gerald N. Minnich Home, North Potomac Street, Hagerstown. The Rev. George A. Limmer will officiate. Burial will be private.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 9:30 to 10 a.m. at the funeral home.




William R. Pompell

William Robert "Bob" Pompell, 74, of Hagerstown, died Sunday, Oct. 13, 2002, at his home.

Born Feb. 17, 1928, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late John Walter and Anna Elizabeth Everly Pompell.

He retired in 1990 from G.M. Gehr, where he was a painter for more than 40 years.

He was a member of Hagerstown First Church of God.

He is survived by his wife, Rayetta E. Roof Pompell, whom he married Oct. 3, 1948; one daughter, Vickie E. Smith of Sharpsburg; three sons, David W. Pompell, Robert L. Pompell and Mark R. Pompell, all of Hagerstown; one sister, Betty L. Lynn of Hagerstown; six grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown. The Rev. David W. Sword will officiate.

Visitation will be today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Gerald N. Minnich Home, North Potomac Street, Hagerstown.




Ronald J. Crisp

FREDERICK, Md. - Dr. Ronald Joseph Crisp, 58, of 8288 Waterside Court, died Friday, Oct. 11, 2002, at his home of a heart attack.

Born July 16, 1944, in Carlisle, Pa., he was the son of Dorothy Matthews Crisp of Frederick, and formerly of Hagerstown, and the late Joseph C. Crisp.

He earned his bachelor of science degree in 1967 from Wheeling (W.Va.) Jesuit College, and a medical degree in 1977 from George Washington Medical School, Washington, D.C.

He was an internist.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by one brother, Michael M. Crisp of Marriottsville, Md.; one sister, Alice Mattioda of Streator, Ill.; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Robert E. Dailey and Son Funeral Home, P.A., Frederick. The Rev. James Murphy will officiate. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made in his memory to the American Heart Association, 839 Quince Orchard Blvd., Suite E, Gaithersburg, MD 20878.




Wayne E. Martin

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Wayne E. "Shorty" Martin, 55, of 2807 Fillmore Drive, died Sunday, Oct. 13, 2002, at Chambersburg Hospital following a brief illness.

Born March 9, 1947, in Chambersburg, he was the son of the late J. Earl and Ruth M. Landis Martin.

He was a 1965 graduate of James Buchanan High School in Mercersburg, Pa.

He was employed as a forklift operator at Mack Trucks, Hagerstown, for more than 20 years. He also drove tractor-trailers for area trucking companies.

He was a member of Church of the Brethren.

He was a member of Marine Corps League, American Legion Post 46, AMVETS Post 224 and VFW Post 1599, all of Chambersburg.

He is survived by one son, Terry W. Martin of Chambersburg; three sisters, Joanne M. Johnson, Linda K. Peiffer and Carol A. Mummert, all of Greencastle, Pa.; and nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

He was preceded in death by one son, Philip Martin; two brothers, Larry E. Martin and Dale L. Martin; and his stepmother, Louise M. Meyers Martin.

Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, Greencastle. The Rev. Gayle L. Ruble Sr. will officiate. Burial will be in Shank's Church of the Brethren Cemetery near Greencastle.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Leah B. Hoover

MONT ALTO, Pa. - Leah B. Hess Hoover, 82, of 305 Constitution Ave., died Sunday, Oct. 13, 2002, at Waynesboro (Pa.) Hospital.

Born Nov. 23, 1919, in Quincy Township, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Joseph R. and Elsie Mary Gardenhour Hess.

She attended Quincy schools.

She was employed as a packer at Letterkenny Army Depot in Chambersburg. She was later employed as a grader for Knouse Foods in Orrtanna, Pa. She retired in May 1986.

She was a member of Solomon's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Chambersburg.
