Pa. woman escapes injuries in crash

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - A Chambersburg woman was not injured Saturday when her vehicle ran off the road and into a tree, Pennsylvania State Police said.

Kathy D. Shatzer, 31, lost control of her Geo Storm while eastbound on Edenville Road just before 2 a.m., police said.

The car slid off the roadway onto the south berm and struck a tree at the intersection with North Franklin Street, police said.

Police looking for driver who fled accident scene

GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Pennsylvania State Police are looking for the driver who fled from an accident scene Saturday afternoon on U.S. 11.


The accident happened just before 4 p.m. when a 1989 gray Nissan sedan ran a stop sign at the intersection of Hykes Road and U.S. 11 and crossed the path of a Buick sedan, which was northbound on U.S. 11, police said.

The Buick struck the Nissan in the right rear passenger area, knocking off the rear bumper and breaking taillights, police said.

The Nissan spun around and the operator drove off, police said.

The Buick, driven by Lisa Diffenbaucher, 38, of State Line, Pa., sustained moderate front-end damage, police said.

Truck driver escapes injury in I-81 crash

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - A trucker escaped injury Sunday morning when his Yellow Freight rig wrecked just north of the new Exit 14 in the southbound lane of Interstate 81, Berkeley County Sheriff's deputies said.

Lt. Dennis Streets said the accident occurred at 6:30 a.m. when the driver lost control of his tractor-trailer and hit the guardrail, turning the rig on its side.

The truck and its nonhazardous cargo were hauled from the scene, deputies said.

Exit 14 is the new interchange adjacent to City Hospital.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
