Juveniles charged with robbery

FREDERICK, Md. - Three juveniles were charged Friday with the strong-armed robbery of another person on the block of West Patrick Street, Frederick Police said.

The victim reported he was assaulted and money was stolen from his wallet.

Police said numerous suspects were detained afterward.

Three of them were charged with robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery, second-degree assault, conspiracy to commit second-degree assault, malicious destruction of property, conspiracy to commit malicious destruction of property, theft under $500 and conspiracy to commit theft under $500.

Police said charges may be filed against three other people.

Frederick man arrested for disturbing peace

FREDERICK, Md. - A Frederick man was arrested Thursday on charges including disturbing the peace, Frederick Police said Saturday.

Police were called to the 600 block of North Bentz Street because of a noise complaint, police said.

Gregory Singleton Jr., 28, of 600 Bentz, was playing a radio loud while walking up and down the street, making obscene gestures to neighbors and walking into traffic, police said.


Another police officer earlier in the day had asked Singleton to stop the same behavior, police said.

Singleton, who is 6 feet tall and 280 pounds, allegedly ran from a police officer but was stopped by another officer, police said. Singleton is accused of striking an officer before being placed under arrest, police said.

Singleton was charged with resisting arrest, second degree assault, disorderly conduct and failure to obey a lawful order to prevent a disturbance of the peace, police said.

He was being held at the Frederick County Detention Center on Saturday on $5,000 bond.

Woman charged with negligent driving

A Delaware woman was charged after driving off a road near Hancock on Saturday, Maryland State Police said.

Brenda Marie Xenidis, 39, was listed in serious condition Saturday night at Washington County Hospital.

Xenidis, of Delaware City, Del., was charged with negligent driving and driving while under the influence of alcohol, Maryland State Police Sgt. Kevin Lewis said.

At about 5:15 p.m. Saturday Xenidis was driving her 2001 Dodge Durango west on Md. 144/Western Pike west of Hancock near Locker Road, Lewis said. As she approached a left hand curve in the road, she drove off the right side.

Xenidis' car hit a fence, went over a rocky embankment and hit a telephone pole, Lewis said. She was flown by state police to the hospital trauma center.
