Maureen M. Purcell

Maureen Mary Purcell, 44, of 900 View St., Hagerstown, died Thursday, Oct. 3, 2002, at her home.

Born Jan. 22, 1958, in Washington, D.C., she was the daughter of the late James and Lorraine Roddy.

She attended Montgomery County Community College.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Michael Purcell; two daughters, Lorraine L. and Theresa J., both of Hagerstown; eight sons, William S., Stephen W., Michael D., Robert A., Charles C., Nicholas P. and Jonathan M., all of Hagerstown, and Joseph E. of Cascade; three sisters, Marguerite Braswel of Bethesda, Md., Michelle Beppen of Hagerstown, Carol Roddy of Silver Spring, Md.; and two grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Jessica L.

Memorial services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Boulevard North, Hagerstown. The Rev. Robert G. Brennan Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Keedysville.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to services on Monday.




Roy C. Shindle

DANIA BEACH, Fla. - Roy Clifford Shindle, 92, of Dania Beach, and formerly of Hagerstown, died Saturday, Sept. 28, 2002.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Shindle.

He was a member of First Christian Church of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

He is survived by grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Services were Thursday, Oct. 3, at 10 a.m. at Fairchild Funeral Home, Fort Lauderdale. The Rev. David Haun officiated. Burial followed in Forest Lawn Central Cemetery.

Visitation was Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.




Garrett N. Adams

Garrett Newton Adams, 80, of 1005 Linwood Road, Hagerstown, died Thursday, Oct. 3, 2002, at his home.

Born Oct. 25, 1921, in Oldtown, Md., he was the son of the late Charles P. and Bertha E. Twigg Adams.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Naomi Pearl Booth Adams, in 1999.

He retired from Western Maryland Railroad.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army.

He was a member of BPO Elks Lodge 378 of Hagerstown.

He is survived by one sister, Minnie A. Miller of Oldtown; one brother, Harry F. Adams of Norfolk, Va.; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by five sisters and two brothers.

Services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, Hagerstown. The Rev. Dennis L. Upton will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown.

The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.




Hester L. Feiser

Hester L. Feiser, 97, of 1183 Luther Drive, Hagerstown and formerly of Brown Avenue, died Friday, Oct. 4, 2002, at Ravenwood Lutheran Village.

Born in Woodstock, Va., she was the daughter of the late Wallace Lee and Lillie Belle Shipe Cook.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Merle Feiser, in 1978.

She was employed by Southern Shoe Company and later Fairchild Aircraft.

She was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church.

She is survived by three daughters, Kathryn M. Crone and Betty L. Cordell, both of Hagerstown and Peggy J. Thayer of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two sons, Joseph M. Feiser of Halfway and Cecil L. Feiser of Funkstown; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers.

Services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home, Hagerstown. The Revs. Stephen D. Robinson and Wayne L. Schwanke will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Washington County, 101 E. Baltimore St., Hagerstown, MD 21740; or to a charity of one's choice.




Bradley L. Bond

SHARPSBURG - Bradley Leon Bond, 22, of 127 S. Mechanic St., died Thursday, Oct. 3, 2002.

Born April 19, 1980, in Washington County, he was the son of David and Katrina Bond Shoemaker of Hagerstown.

He was a 1998 graduate of Washington County Technical High School.

He was employed as a lead cook by Ruby Tuesday Restaurant.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by two brothers, Brandon Shoemaker and Bryce Shoemaker, both of Hagerstown; maternal grandmother, Edna F. Bond of Clear Spring; paternal grandparents, Albert and Dolores Shoemaker of Hagerstown; and his girlfriend, Corey Domer of Sharpsburg.

Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, East Wilson Boulevard, Hagerstown. The Rev. Robert Griffin will officiate. Burial will be in Broadfording Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.




Emogene D. Togans

CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Emogene Daisy Togans, 80, of Charles Town, died Thursday, Oct. 3, 2002, at Shenandoah Health Village Center, Charles Town.

Born Oct. 16, 1921, in Bolivar, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Lee and Lillian Viola Braxton.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore Steward Togans Sr., in 1992.
