A Delaware woman was charged after driving off a road near Hancock on Saturday, Maryland State Police said.

Brenda Marie Xenidis, 39, was listed in serious condition Saturday night at Washington County Hospital.

Xenidis, of Delaware City, Del., was charged with negligent driving and driving while under the influence of alcohol, Maryland State Police Sgt. Kevin Lewis said.

At about 5:15 p.m. Saturday Xenidis was driving her 2001 Dodge Durango west on Md. 144/Western Pike west of Hancock near Locker Road, Lewis said. As she approached a left hand curve in the road, she drove off the right side.
