BEL AIR, Md. - National U-16 team member Ashley Myers scored nine minutes into overtime Saturday, giving John Carroll a 3-2 victory over No. 1 Thomas Johnson.

Lindsay Hoffman gave the Patriots (5-2) a 1-0 lead four minutes in off assists from Kristin Kremers and Jen Thackston.

The game was tied 1-1 at halftime, and John Carroll took a 2-1 lead early in the second half, before Emily Sikes tied it 2-2 in the 78th minute off another Thackston assist. JV: 1-1.

Spinnler second in Masters


WASHINGTON - Maria Spinnler, 40, of Hagerstown, finished second Sunday in the Capital Running Company women's Masters championship - held as part of the 23rd annual Georgetown Classic 10K - in 38 minutes, 36 seconds, winning $400. Spinnler finished seventh overall.

Lee Dipietro, 44, of Ruxton, Md., won the Masters race in 36:19. Dipietro was the Masters runner-up in the 2001 Boston Marathon.

Laura Freix, 41, Centreville, Va., finished third in the Masters division in 38:44.

Kenyan Atalelech Ketema, 19, won the overall race in 33:30.
