Sunday, Oct. 6: Bells for Remembrance - Participating local churches will ring bells in memory of women who have lost their lives to breast cancer, in honor of breast cancer survivors and in recognition of breast cancer awareness. 1-888-474-3044.

Saturday, Oct. 12, 11 a.m.: "Just for you" luncheon for breast cancer survivors at Berkeley Senior Center, 217 N. High St., Martinsburg

Saturday, Oct. 26: Community Health Fair at the Martinsburg Mall - American Cancer Society, Shenandoah Maternity Center, West Virginia Breast and Cervical Cancer Program will have information on free mammograms.

Jefferson County, W.Va.

Saturday, Oct. 5, 8:30 a.m. registration: Walk for Women, Jefferson County Fair Grounds, 1-304-293-2370. Wreath hanging will precede walk.

Morgan County, W.Va.

Saturday, Oct. 12, noon: Wreath hanging, War Memorial Hospital, 1124, Fairfax St., Berkeley Springs

In Maryland and Pennsylvania

Y-ME of the Cumberland Valley, the local breast cancer information and support organization, is sponsoring several activities for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Friday, Oct. 4: Y-ME Pink Ribbon place mats at dozens of Tri-State area restaurants.

Friday, Oct. 11: Free pink ribbons and pink bandanas for $5 are available from Y-ME.

Thursday, Oct. 10, 7 p.m. - "Women Inside Out," a discussion on the body, beauty, spirit and strength of women. Panelists are Dr. David Solberg, obstetrician/gynecologist; Dr. Henry Garazo, plastic and reconstructive surgeon; and Rev. Cherie Baker, director of pastoral care for Washington County Hospital. Robinwood Medical Center Conference Room.

Saturday, Oct. 26, 9-11 a.m. - Y-ME Step 'n' Stride fund-raiser. 5-mile walk and/or aerobics. Athletic Recreation and Community Center, Hagerstown Community College.
