'Father of the 401(k) to speak at prayer breakfast

Ted Benna, the president and founder of the 401(k) Association, will be the guest speaker at the sixth annual Greater Washington County Leadership Prayer Breakfast.

The breakfast will be at the Clarion Hotel and Conference Center in Hagerstown on Oct. 11 from 7 to 9 a.m.

Benna is referred to as "The Father of the 401(k)" because he created and gained approval from the Internal Revenue Service for the first 401(k) savings plan.

Benna has received numerous citations and awards for his accomplishments, including the 2001 National Jefferson Award for Greatest Public Service by a Private Citizen, 2001 Player of the Year as selected by Defined Contribution News, and selections by Money Magazine for the special 20th Anniversary Issue Hall of Fame and Business Insurance as one of its four People of the Century.

Benna has written three books, "Helping Employees Achieve Retirement Income Security," "Escaping the Coming Retirement Crisis" and "Tips for Successfully Managing Your 401(k)."

The cost for the breakfast is $8 per person, with table sponsorships of 10 tickets available for $70.00. Reservations are required.
