Medevac choppers to use stadium

September 26, 2002

Residents living near Hagerstown's Municipal Stadium may hear the sounds of helicopter rotors off and on for the next few days.

Dispatchers at Washington County Fire and Rescue Communications said that through Saturday, Maryland State Police medevac helicopters will land at the stadium instead of at Washington County Hospital.

The temporary change is because of repairs at the helipad on top of the hospital's west wing, said Ruth Gallion, the hospital's patient care manager.

Ambulances will ferry patients to and from the stadium to rendezvous with the helicopters over the next few days.
