Travis G. Westurn

CLEAR SPRING - Travis Glenn Westurn, 23, of 13707 Blairs Valley Road, who died Sunday, Sept. 22, 2002, was the son of Glenn L. and Ruth N. Bittinger Westurn of Clear Spring.




Kelly S. Whittington

Kelly Sue Whittington, 41, of 17707 Woodcrest Road, Hagers-town, died Monday, Sept. 23, 2002, at her home.

Born June 3, 1961, in Hagers-town, she was the daughter of Nancy Nunamaker Nigh of Hagerstown and the late William Keller Nigh.

She was a 1979 graduate of South Hagerstown High School.

She was a former employee of First Federal Savings and Loan, Paul Harris and Maurice's.

She was a member of Bethel Assembly of God Church, where she sang in the choir.

She was a member of Y-Me.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Michael Edward Whittington, whom she married June 28, 1980; one daughter, Katie Whittington, at home; one son, Michael E. Whittington II, at home; three brothers, Kurt Nigh of Smithsburg, Brad Nigh of Hagerstown, and Doug Nigh of Williamsport; paternal grandmother, Elizabeth Nigh of Williamsport; and aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Services will be Friday at 10 a.m. at Bethel Assembly of God Church, Hagerstown. Pastor Terry B. Broadwater will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, Hagerstown; and at the church Friday at 9 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Washington County, 101 E. Baltimore St., Hagerstown, MD 21740; or Bethel Assembly of God, 515 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, MD 21740.




Tony F. Henderson III

Christopher S. Henderson

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Tony Francis Henderson III and Christopher Sean Henderson, infant sons of Tony Francis Henderson Jr. and Shander Cromwell Thomas of Martinsburg, died Thursday, Sept. 19, 2002, at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, W.Va.

In addition to their parents, they are survived by two sisters, Shelaya A. Henderson and Carmen Henderson; and three brothers, Andre Hornes, Michael Henderson and Christian Henderson, all at home.

Graveside services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Pleasant View Memory Gardens. Pastor Delbert Pope will officiate.

Arrangements are by Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg.




Emmert F. Witmer

GREENCASTLE, Pa. -Emmert F. Witmer, 72, of 12716 Binkley Road, died Saturday, Sept. 21, 2002, in Kotzebue, Alaska, while on a hunting trip.

Born Nov. 25, 1929, in Franklin County, Pa., he was the son of Thelma M. Lindsay Witmer of Greencastle and the late Franklin L. Witmer.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty M. Deshong Witmer, in 2000. They were married Oct. 21, 1947.

He retired from the plumbing, heating and air conditioning business.

He was a member of Greencastle Church of God, where he served on the board.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by one daughter, Cheryl D. Witmer of Greencastle; four sons, David F. Witmer, Dennis W. Witmer and James D. Witmer, all of Greencastle, and Jeffrey L. Witmer of Johnson City, Tenn.; three sisters, Mary Tosten of Greencastle, and Helen Timmons and Linda Keefer, both of Mercersburg, Pa.; three brothers, Donald Witmer and Lawrence Witmer, both of Greencastle, and Harold Witmer of Fort St. Johns, British Columbia; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by an infant son and a brother.

Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Greencastle Church of God. The Rev. Floyd E. Myers will officiate. Burial will be in Macedonia Church Cemetery near Bino, Pa.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, Greencastle; and Friday at 10 a.m. at the church.




Mary E. Reese

Mary Ellen Reese, 77, of 11 W. Baltimore St., Hagerstown, died Monday, Sept. 23, 2002, at Washington County Hospital.

Born April 21, 1925, in Carlisle, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Eli and Mable Kuhn.

She was preceded in death by her former husband, David Kenneth Reese.

She attended Woodpoint Chapel.

She is survived by three daughters, Kay D. Straley of Greencastle, Pa., and Alice J. Gardner and Sue Ellen Byrd, both of Hagerstown; three sons, Kenneth D. Reese of Hagerstown, John W. Reese Sr. of Williamsport, and James A. Reese of Greencastle; two sisters, Betty J. Hose of Hagerstown, and Lillian Hinkle of Carlisle; one brother, William Kuhn of Ilondo, Texas; 22 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Helen Kuhn; one brother, James Kuhn; and one great-grandson.

Services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, East Wilson Boulevard, Hagers-town. The Revs. Robert V. Robinson and Jimmy Jones will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
