Volunteers needed for Make a Difference Day

FREDERICK, Md. - Volunteers and donations are needed to make apparel and other items for hospitalized infants on Make a Difference Day, Saturday, Oct. 26, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., in the Campus Commons room of Whitaker Campus Center at Hood College.

This national event will be celebrated locally at Hood in conjunction with Care Wear.

Volunteers are encouraged to bring a sewing machine and other sewing supplies. Sewing skills are not required. Patterns, supplies and instructions will be provided. Volunteers who knit and crochet also are welcome and encouraged to bring knitting needles and crochet hooks. Chairs, yarn and patterns will be provided.

People and businesses may also contribute by donating flannel, calico, broadcloth and/or other woven fabrics for infant quilts; polyester fiberfill; polyester quilt batting; scissors; textile paint in assorted colors; white fabric for burial gowns; narrow white lace.
