Apple slicers/corers

Leifheit International USA Inc. has recalled about 31,000 apple slicers/corers.

The cutting blade can separate from the center-coring ring during use, causing cuts to consumers' hands and fingers.

The recall includes Pro Line apple slicers/corers.

Consumers should stop using the apple slicers/corers and return them to the place of purchase or the company for a replacement or a refund. For more information, contact Leifheit at 1-866-695-3434 or visit the firm's Web site at


Babyliss Pro has recalled about 23,000 hairdryers.

The hairdryers do not have an immersion protection device on the power cord and could present an electrocution hazard if exposed to water.

The recalled hairdryers have the model number BAB2002BLX, are rated at 1875 watts and are pistol-shaped. The hairdryers were intended for professional use, but could have been sold to consumers for personal use.


Consumers should stop using the hairdryers and Babyliss Pro at 1-800-726-4202 for a free replacement unit with an immersion protection device.

Air compressors

Northern Tool & Equipment has recalled about 3,400 electric air compressors.

The capacitors on the compressors can overheat, catch fire and ignite the plastic cover above the capacitor.

The recalled air compressors are Model 191000 and Model 192000.

Consumers should stop using the recalled air compressors and contact Northern Tool at 1-800-222-5381 for a refund or visit the firm's Web site at

The recall includes only those compressors sold between January and May 2002.

Battery chargers

Chargetek Inc. has recalled about 200 CT-2000 battery chargers used with recreational vehicles, such as boats.

A manufacturing defect inside the charger can cause overheating of internal connections or external wiring, presenting a fire hazard.

The chargers were made in the United States and the words "Chargetek CT2000" are printed across the front of the charger's black housing. Only models with a serial number in the range of 030260 to 030603 and/or a day code between Jan. 1, 2001, and

June 30,2002, are included in the recall.
