Charles S. Hetzer

WILLIAMSPORT - Charles S. Hetzer, 84, of 16505 Virginia Ave., formerly of Maugansville, died Thursday, Sept. 19, 2002, at Homewood of Williamsport.

Born July 31, 1918, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Alphonzo T. and Mabel Bloom Hetzer.

His wife, Nora Margaret Pitsnogle Hetzer, died in 2000.

He retired from Blake Construction Co. in Washington, D.C.

He was a member of Hagerstown Church of the Brethren where he was in the United Workers Sunday school class.

He was a member of Fahrney Keedy Home Auxiliary and West End Lions Club.

He is survived by a daughter, Joyce M. Hetzer of Hagerstown; a son, Donald E. Hetzer of Hagerstown; three sisters, Anna C. Hastings and Maudie V. Frye, both of Hagerstown and Catherine E. Delehanty of Deltona, Fla.; a brother, George W. Hetzer of Clear Spring; two grandsons; and three great-granddaughters.

Services will be Monday at 10 a.m. at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, Hagerstown. The Rev. Dean Miller and the Rev. Edward L. Poling will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hagerstown Church of the Brethren, 15 S. Mulberry St., Hagerstown, MD 21740.




Martha E. Eby

Martha E. Eby, 87, a resident of the Mennonite Fellowship Home, Hagerstown, formerly of 38 B Long Meadow Road, Paramount, died Friday, Sept. 20, 2002, at the home.

Born Feb. 13, 1915, in Cearfoss, she was the daughter of the late David R. and Annie Martin Eby.

She was employed by Boones Potato Chip factory in Paramount and then did domestic work in private homes in the Hagerstown area.

She was a member of Mount Olive Mennonite Church in Maugansville.

She is survived by a nephew, Harold E. Eby of Hagerstown; a foster-nephew; five great-nieces; and five great-nephews.

She is preceded in death by a sister, Cora Eby; a brother, David M. Eby; and a niece.

Services will be Monday at 10 a.m. at Mount Olive Mennonite Church, Maugansville. Pastor Glenn Martin and Pastor Ira Martin will officiate. Burial will be in Reiff Mennonite Church Cemetery, in Maugansville.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Miller-Bowersox Funeral Home in Greencastle, Pa. and Monday at the church one hour prior to services.

The family requests the omission of flowers.




Chester L. Kline

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Chester Lee Kline, 71, of 129 Hamilton Ave., died Thursday, Sept. 19, 2002, at Waynesboro Hospital.

Born July 30, 1931, in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late Harry S. and Sarah Thompson Kline.

He was a 1950 graduate of Waynesboro High School and attended classes at Penn State Mont Alto in Mont Alto, Pa.

He worked at Landis Machine Co. in Waynesboro before and after military service, retiring as superintendent of manufacturing in June 1944 after 44 years of service. He then taught math and pre-engineering classes for PATT.

He was a welding instructor in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.

He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church.

He was a member of Joe Stickell American Legion Post 15, South Chapter AARP 2977, in Waynesboro and national AARP.

He is survived by his wife of more than 51 years, Patricia J. "Pat" Davis Kline; a daughter, Toya B. Warner of Waynesboro; three sons, Alan L. Kline and Noel A. Kline, both of Waynesboro, and Tod F. Kline of Fayetteville, Pa.; a granddaughter; two step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Hilda K. Dillon and Lucille Kline.

Services will be Monday at 3 p.m. at Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, Waynesboro. The Rev. Jay E. Zimmerman will officiate. Burial will follow in Burns Hill Cemetery, in Waynesboro.

The family will receive friends Monday at the funeral home one hour prior to services.




Carol J. Gabriel

Carol J. Gabriel, 60, of Hagerstown, formerly of Shade, Ohio, died Thursday, Sept. 19, 2002, at her home.

Born Sept. 16, 1942, in Shade, she was the daughter of the late George and Edna Dixon Fulton.

She was a graduate of Shade High School.

She attended Christ Fellowship Assembly of God, then Evangelistic Temple in Hagerstown.

She is survived by her husband, Kenneth F. Gabriel; two sons, Kevin C. Gabriel of Taylor, Texas, and Bryan K. Gabriel of Sharpsburg; two sisters, Jean Jordan of Glouster, Ohio, and Phylis Pratt of Mount Pleasant, Ohio; a twin brother, Darrell Fulton of Albany, Ohio; three grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, Frieda Masten, Mildred Cooper and Louise Slater, and two brothers, Norman Fulton and Buck Fulton.

Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home in Athens, Ohio. Darrell Clark will officiate. Burial will be in Asbury Cemetery.

Friends may call Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.




Catharine M. Gallagher

FLOURTOWN, Pa. - Catharine M. Darby Gallagher, 94, of St. Joseph's Villa, formerly of Conshohocken, Pa., died Friday, Sept. 20, 2002, at St. Joseph's Villa.
