Square dance

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Hosted by Whirly Bird Square Dance Club, and called by George Sword. St. John's United Church of Christ, Fellowship Hall, 1811 Lincoln Way East. 7:30 to 10 p.m. All area club dancers are invited.

Ballroom dance

GETTYSBURG, Pa. - The monthly dance features the sounds of the 14-piece National Apple Museum Dance Band. Gettysburg High School cafeteria. 8 to 10 p.m. A lesson prior to the dance from 6:45 to 7:45 p.m. will be taught by Donna Clapper. Each month a new dance step is featured. The lesson is $5. Hispanic celebration

Lord's Acre Festival

WOLFSVILLE, Md. - Sponsored by Salem United Methodist Church. The sale of garden produce, plants, preserves, needlework and a variety of handcrafted items begins at 4 p.m., with an auction of a quilt and unsold items at 8 p.m. Ice cream, homemade soup, sandwiches, pies and baked goods will be sold. Cultural festival

FREDERICK, Md. - The festival will begin with a naturalization ceremony at 10 a.m., followed by big band music, Scottish pipes, other performers. Food, ethnic vendors and exhibitors. Baker Park. 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Rain or shine.

Pig roast

WELSH RUN, Pa. - The supper menu will consist of roast pork, rolls, roasted red potatoes, barbecued green beans, cole slaw, fruit salad, beverage and homemade pies and desserts. Volunteers needed

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Volunteers are needed for the Berkeley County PASS (Providing Academic and Self-esteem Support) program. The program seeks to lower the dropout rate. Volunteers meet with a student 30 minutes per week. Training sessions are offered each week on Thursday at Eagle School Intermediate from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. For information, call your local school and ask to speak to the PASS school coordinator.

Trains for kids to run

Every weekend. Includes a circus train, a McDonald's train and Thomas the Tank Engine on a toy train railroad built for children to operate. Indoor riding trains for small children will be available.
