Emma B. Brumbaugh

WILLIAMSPORT - Emma B. Myers Brumbaugh, 89, of Homewood Nursing Home, and formerly of 18219 Showalter Road, Hagerstown, died Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2002, at the home.

Born Sept. 18, 1912, in Middleburg, Md., she was the daughter of the late Aaron S. and Leila Hartle Myers.

Her husband, Samuel N. Brumbaugh, died May 10, 1997. They were married June 13, 1942.

She attended Middleburg Grammar School in State Line, Pa.

She was a homemaker.

She was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ in State Line.

She is survived by three sisters, Helen Rowland of Hagerstown, and Edna Kershner and Ethel Rathbone, both of State Line; four nieces and three nephews.

Services will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Miller-Bowersox Funeral Home, Greencastle, Pa. The Rev. Edwin Higginbottom will officiate. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Greencastle.

The family will receive friends Saturday at the funeral home at 9:30 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Annex Fund of Trinity United Church of Christ, 29 East Ave., State Line, PA 17263.




Lester B. Durst

Lester Boyd Durst, 65, of 16906 Spring Lake Court, Hagerstown, died Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2002, at Washington County Hospital.

Born June 18, 1937, in Keyser, W.Va., he was the son of the late Lester F. and Bessie L. Houdersheldt Durst.

He was employed as a dietetic supervisor by the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Martinsburg, W.Va., retiring in 1992 after 33 years.

He served in the U.S. Navy.

He was a member of Virginia Avenue Baptist Church in Hagers-town.

He was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.

He is survived by his wife, Beverly L. Durst; one son, Lester F. Alkire of Hagerstown; three sisters, Laura B. Markel of Akron, Ohio, and Carol S. Kline and Betty J. Mellott, both of Hagerstown; three brothers, James F. Durst of Greencastle, Pa., Wendell L. Durst of Hagerstown, and Douglas M. Durst of Florida; and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Virginia M. Burker; and one brother, John B. Durst.

Services will be Friday at 10 a.m. at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, Hagerstown. The Rev. Shane Stauffer will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens, Martinsburg.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Hall W. Venetta

BOONSBORO - The Rev. Hall Wilmer Venetta, 84, of Fahrney-Keedy Village, died Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2002, at his home.

Born May 31, 1918, in Big Run, Pa., he was the son of the late Robert Eugene and May Elizabeth Robinson Venetta.

A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps and the U.S. Marine Corps.

He retired from the U.S. Navy Civil Service after 37 years. He ministered for six years in the United Methodist Church, at Alpine, Berkeley Springs and Flintstone charges. He also was associate pastor of Washington Square United Methodist Church in Hagerstown.

He was a member of Washington Square United Methodist Church.

He was a member of Morris Frock American Legion Post 42.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Elizabeth Donhiser Venetta; five daughters, Marilyn Marshall of Towson, Md., Elizabeth V. Buchanan of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., Elaine V. Wigginton of Eldersburg, Md., Catherine V. Hixson of Hagerstown, and Doris V. Obenshain of Cecilton, Md.; one son, Thomas H. Venetta of Hagerstown; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one nephew.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Robert J. Venetta.

Services will be Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at Washington Square United Methodist Church. The Revs. Owen Womack and Louis L. Emerick will officiate.

Burial will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Williamsport.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, East Wilson Boulevard, Hagerstown, and Sunday at 12:30 p.m. at the church.

Loretta M. Weatherholtz

Loretta May Weatherholtz, 80, of 11219 Greenmount Ave., Hagerstown, died Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2002, at Washington County Hospital.

Born July 29, 1922, in Morgantown, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Mont Edward and Clara Elizabeth Warnick Harris.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Mervin Lafayette Weatherholtz, in 1998.

She was a graduate of Myersdale (Pa.) High School.

She was a member of Word of Life Assemblies of God in Springfield, Va.

She is survived by four daughters, Theresa L. Perry and Mary Ann Brown, both of Hagerstown, Vicki M. Williams of Fredericksburg, Va., and Sarah E. Comfort of Hillsborough, N.C.; one son, Mervyn E. Weatherholtz of Roseville, Mich.; 14 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
