Robert B. Green Sr.

Robert Bernie Green Sr., 76, of 111223 Mountain View Circle, Hagerstown, died Monday, Sept. 9, 2002, at his home.

Born Jan. 14, 1926, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Lewis Green and Ella Dagenhart Bowers.

His wife, Beulah Florence Green, died in 1997.

He retired from Western Maryland Railroad (Chessie System).

He served in the U.S. Navy.

He is survived by one daughter, Anna G. Green Miner of Boonsboro; one son, Robert B. Green Jr. of Hagerstown; one sister, Ella M. Presgraves of Hagerstown; three brothers, Jack Green of Hagerstown, William Green and Lewis Green, both of Florida; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two daughters, Mary L. Green and Beverly L. Green.

Services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, East Wilson Boulevard, Hagerstown. The Rev. Robert L. Dell will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.




Kathryn L. Rudy

QUINCY, Pa. - Kathryn L. Swope Rudy, 83, of Quincy United Methodist Home, and formerly of 218 Penn St., Mont Alto, Pa., died Sunday, Sept. 8, 2002, at the home.

Born Feb. 20, 1919, in Greencastle, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Albert N. and Mary Bell Myers Swope.

Her husband, Welty C. Rudy, died March 3, 1992. They were married April 14, 1945.

She attended Tomstown and Fairview, Pa., schools.

She did domestic work in private homes; worked at Waynesboro Knitting Mill; and from 1948 until retiring in 1975, worked at the Samuel Dixon T.B. Hospital, now South Mountain Restoration Center, South Mountain, Pa., as a nursing aide, then in housekeeping and in the laundry department.

She is survived by one brother, Clarence A. Swope of Waynesboro, Pa.; one sister, Mildred E. Mentzer of Carlisle, Pa.; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Quincy United Methodist Home. Chaplain Daniel F. Derk will officiate. Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg.

The family will receive friends Friday at 10 a.m. at the nursing home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Lutheran Social Services and Home Care, 2700 Luther Drive, Chambersburg, PA 17201.

Arrangements are by Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, Waynesboro.




Richard L. Smith

CASCADE - Richard L. Smith, 62, of Pennersville Road, who died Friday, Aug. 30, 2002, at Washington County Hospital, is survived by one daughter, Peggy A. Heiston of Cascade.

Edward T. Walker

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Edward T. Walker, 71, of 803 N. Penn Hall Drive, died Sunday, Sept. 8, 2002, at his home.

Born April 7, 1931, in Youngstown, Ohio, he was the son of the late Edward Jr. and Violet M. Taylor Walker.

He attended high school in Oak Park, Ill. He received a bachelor of arts degree in mathematics in 1953 from Monmouth (Ill.) College; and a master of arts degree in mathematics in 1959 from the University of Indiana at Bloomington, Ind.

He was an assistant professor of mathematics at Muskingum College, New Concord, Ohio, from 1959 to 1963. He was an assistant professor of mathematics at Wilmington College, Wilmington, Ohio, from 1964 to 1967. From 1967 until retiring in 1993, he was an operations research analyst with Aberdeen (Md.) Proving Ground.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He is survived by his wife, Donalynn A. Roberts Walker, whom he married April 12, 1991; one daughter, Deborah Beall of Abingdon, Md.; and one grandson.

Services will be announced at a later date by the Cumberland Valley Crematorium, Waynesboro, Pa.

Kathleen G. Angle

ST. THOMAS, Pa. - Kathleen G. Angle, 72, of 6299 Nuggett Way, died Monday, Sept. 9, 2002, at her home.

Born Oct. 1, 1929, near Mercersburg, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Ross and Elva Atherton Weller.

She worked at the Mercersburg Dress Factory for 20 years; at Bitner's Restaurant; and at Sunnyway Foods of Chambersburg, Pa.

She was a member of Maple Grove Church of God, Mercersburg.

She was a member of Ladies Auxiliary Clarence Armstrong VFW Post 6241 and AARP.

She is survived by her husband, Wayne H. Angle, whom she married June 25, 1960; one daughter, Deborah A. Walls of San Clemente, Calif.; one son, Marvin G. Miller of Mercersburg; three sisters, Pauline Arnold of St. Thomas, Gladys Cooper of Chambersburg, and Pat Rockwell of Greencastle, Pa.; two brothers, George Weller of Chambersburg, and Leonard Weller of St. Thomas; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
