S. Jane Bumbaugh

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - S. Jane Ulrich Bumbaugh, 75, of 3134 Anthony Highway, died Thursday, Sept. 5, 2002, at Hershey (Pa.) Medical Center.

Born May 11, 1927, in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of the late John David and Irene E. Shearer Ulrich.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas D. Bumbaugh, in 1977. They were married April 16, 1943.

She attended Fayetteville, Pa. schools.

She was employed by Waynesboro Knitting Mill in Waynesboro, Pa., and later by Try Me Florist in Pond Bank, Pa.

She was a member of Pond Bank Independent Church, where she taught Sunday School and was a member of the Women's Missionary Council.

She was a member of Pond Bank Community Center Association, and the National AARP.

She is survived by one son, Kenneth W. Bumbaugh of Chambersburg; one sister, E. Mae West of Fayetteville; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Kaye M. Bumbaugh.

Services will be Monday at 1:30 p.m. at Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, Waynesboro. The Rev. Mervil R. Stambaugh will officiate. Burial will follow in Mount Zion Cemetery, Quincy, Pa.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.




Dorothy M. Lesher

Dorothy M. "Dot" Lesher, 80, of 17548 Gay St., Hagerstown, died Thursday, Sept. 5, 2002, at Homewood in Williamsport.

Born Nov. 18, 1921, in Dixon, Ill., she was the daughter of the late Oscar and Ada Engle Werick.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick C. Lesher, in 1995.

She was employed by Reisner Manufacturing, and earlier by Fairchild Industries.

She was a Protestant.

She is survived by one sister, Mildred Gugerty of Dixon; and nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by one sister and two brothers.

Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home, Hagerstown. The Rev. Roger K. Myers will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Luther E. Brady

BIG COVE TANNERY, Pa. - Luther E. Brady, 64, of 260 Brady Lane, died Friday, Sept. 6, 2002, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Martinsburg, W.Va.

Born Dec. 23, 1937, in Big Cove Tannery, he was the son of the late Granvil A. and Annie Lynch Brady.

He was a truck driver for United Utility in Chambersburg, Pa.

He was of the Christian faith.

He was a member of George Washington Masonic Lodge of Chambersburg.

He is survived by three sisters, Sylva Deshong of Hagerstown, Gretta Smith of Needmore, Pa., and Greathel Black of Big Cove Tannery; and one brother, Ralph L. Brady of McConnellsburg, Pa.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Minnie M. Brady and Myrtle G. Seburn; and two brothers, Carl Brady and Granvil Brady Jr.

Services will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, McConnellsburg. Minister Casey Strunk will officiate. Burial will be in Union Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, which will open at 2 p.m. A service will be conducted at the funeral home Monday at 8 p.m. by George Washington Masonic Lodge 143.

Visitation also will be Tuesday at 9 a.m. at the funeral home.




Robert H. Rannells

MANASSAS, Va. - Robert Hugh Rannells, 81, of Manassas, died Thursday, Sept. 5, 2002, at Annaburg Manor in Manassas.

Born March 7, 1921, in Points, W.Va., he was the son of the late Woode and Alma Bennett Rannells.

He was a graduate of Martinsburg (W.Va.) High School.

He retired in 1974 from the U.S Air Force after serving 26 years. He served in the Pacific during World War II, and later as a special agent for the Office of Special Investigations. During his retirement, he was a rural mail carrier.

He was a member of St. Leo Catholic Church.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Josephine Rannells; three sons, Robert W. Rannells of Martinsburg, Charles Rannells of Manassas, and Steve Rannells of Silverdale, Wash.; and grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by three granddaughters.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Leo Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Pleasant View Memory Gardens.

Visitation will be Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg.




Donald E. Zeger

MERCERSBURG, Pa. - Donald E. Zeger, 68, of 58 E. Grandview Ave., died Thursday, Sept. 5, 2002, at Chambersburg (Pa.) Hospital.

Born March 26, 1934, in Waynesboro, Pa., he was the son of the late Robert R. Zeger Sr. and Nettie Laughman Zeger.

He was a 1952 graduate of Mercersburg High School.
