PREP VOLLEYBALL



WILLIAMSPORT - Meggie Miller had 11 kills and 11 digs, Lindsey Plotner had five kills and 11 service points and Denise Sullivan had 22 assists as Williamsport deafeated Walkersville 15-11, 15-5, 15-6 Wednesday in the season opener for both teams.

Koffi Harrison and Iliana Jaatmaa had five kills for Walkersville (0-1).

Berkeley Springs 3, Goretti 1


BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Kelly Wills had eight assists, Katie Martin had seven kills and Ashley Motherhead had 10 points and six aces as St. Maria Goretti lost its season opener to Berkeley Springs, 15-8, 15-8, 10-15, 15-5.

Hancock 3, Beall 0


HANCOCK - Jody Keefer had 16 service points and 12 assists to lead Hancock over Beall, 15-6, 15-6, 15-13.

Danielle Bowman had nine assists, Carrie Beaver had 10 kills and Heather Klinefelter had seven kills for Hancock (1-0). JV: Hancock, 15-7, 15-7.

BUNKER HILL, W.Va. - Valerie Cushwa and Kristen Kamas both scored twice as St. Maria Goretti won its first game of the season.

Cushwa and Marett Diamond had assists for the Gaels (1-2, 1-0 Apple Valley League), while Margot Weneck made nine saves for the win.

Natasha Segura scored twice for Musselman.

ST. JAMES - Madison Keller, Sarah McCutcheon and Elizabeth Brokaw each scord goals for St. John's at Prospect Hall (1-0). McCutcheon added an assist, while Lindsey Weaver made four saves for the shutout.

Edinaldo Martin scored twice and David Boone and Andrew Correces also scored for Highland View (1-2). Charlie Park, Edinaldo Martin and Ryan Gauss had assists. Eduardo Souza and Brian Gauthier combined for 19 saves.

ST. JAMES - Matt Marriott and Durnmola Olanrewaju each scored, Dan Gervacio and Dan Park had assists and Ali Smith made seven saves for his first shutout this season as St. James (3-0) defeated St. John's at Prospect Hall.

NEWVILLE, Pa. - Travis High made 11 saves to give James Buchanan (1-1-1, 0-0-1) a tie against Big Spring, which outshot the Rockets 18-13 and had a 10-2 edge in corners on Tuesday.
