Couple hit by van files suit

August 30, 2002

OCEAN CITY, Md. - A Hagerstown couple injured in 1999 when they were hit by a van while walking across the Coastal Highway in the resort town have filed a $10.7 million lawsuit against the driver, Ocean City and Worcester County officials and the Maryland State Highway Administration.

Lois Diane Graham and her husband, Kirk Graham, of 10904 Clinton Ave., were crossing west to east on the highway at 45th Street around 6:45 p.m. on Aug. 7, 1999, when they were hit, according to a spokesman for the Ocean City Police Department at the time of the incident.

That spokesman said they were hit by a Dodge Caravan that was northbound and had the green light, according to witnesses who were interviewed by police.

The driver of the van wasn't charged, police said in 1999.

The Grahams' attorneys are G. Clair Baker and Dana L. Moylan of the Hagerstown law firm of Miller, Oliver, Baker, Moylan and Stone.
