Gerald F. Desjardins Jr.

Gerald Fabian Desjardins Jr., 37, of 1025B W. Washington St., Hagerstown, died Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2002, at Washington County Hospital in Hagerstown.

Born June 28, 1965, in Biddeford, Maine, he was the son of Gerald Fabian Desjardins Sr. of Biddeford and Mary Frances Palmer Fisher of Parksley, Va.

He had been employed by Turner Taxi.

He was a member of Cutting Edge Ministries in Hagerstown.

He is survived by his wife, Pamela Coyle Lady Desjardins; four stepdaughters, Stephanie Lady and Bobbi Lady, both of Hagerstown, Robin Lady and Romaine Lady, both of Smithsburg; one stepson, Andrew Coyle of York, Pa.; three sisters, Linda Wimbrow and Debbie Beilli, both of Chincoteague, Va. and Christine Bowser of Onancock, Va.; one brother, Richard Michaud of Kennebunk, Maine; maternal grandmother, Georgianna Wickham of South Portland, Maine; paternal grandmother, Lucille Desjardins of Biddeford; and one stepgrandchild.

A memorial service will be Saturday at Cutting Edge Ministries in Hagerstown. The Rev. Clair S. Brinton III will officiate. Burial will be private.

There will be no viewing.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Cutting Edge Ministries Building Fund, 32 East Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21740.




Virginia D. Ramsburg

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. - Virginia Douglas Ramsburg, 85, of Shepherdstown, died Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2002, at Canterbury of Shepherdstown.

Born July 25, 1917, in Jefferson County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late John Douglas Sr. and Ella Walper Lowe.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Phillip A. Ramsburg.

She was a graduate of Martinsburg High School and was a 1944 graduate of Kings Daughters School of Nursing, both in Martinsburg, W.Va.

She worked as a registered nurse at George Washington University Hospital in Washington, D.C., and at the former Newton D. Baker Veterans Hospital in Martinsburg.

She was a member of New Street United Methodist Church in Shepherdstown.

She is survived by one sister, Margaret Binns of Shepherdstown; one brother, J. William Lowe of McLean, Va.; five nieces and nine nephews.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Lowe and Betty Ann Lowe; and four brothers, Randolph Lowe, Eugene Lowe, Kenneth F. Lowe Sr. and John D. Lowe Jr.

Graveside services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in Elmwood Cemetery in Shepherdstown. The Rev. Karen Willis will officiate.

There will be no visitation.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Shepherdstown Fire Department, P.O. Box F, Shepherdstown, WV 25443.

Catherine V. Umphenour

SPOKANE, Wash. - Catherine V. Umphenour, 78, of Spokane, died Monday, Aug. 26, 2002, in Spokane.

She was born Dec. 26, 1923, in Hagerstown.

She was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church in Spokane.

She is survived by her husband of 43 years, James G. Umphenour; one daughter, Barb Neely of Spokane; one son, James Morris of Usk, Wash.; two sisters, Fayebelle Smith and Patsy Schudel, both of Spokane; one brother, John Smith of Hagers-

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Suzanne Haugen.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Lourdes in Spokane. The Rev. James Ribble will be celebrant. Graveside services will follow in Greenwood Memorial Terrace in Spokane.

Visitation will be today from noon to 4 p.m. at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home in Spokane, where a vigil service will be held at 5 p.m.




Anna M. Hines

Anna M. Hines, 79, of 333 N. Locust St., Hagerstown, died Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2002, at Washington County Hospital.

Born June 4, 1923, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Charles Henry and Beatrice Raybold Barger.

Her husband of 28 years, Eugene F. Hines, died Nov. 11, 1984.

She retired in 1980 from the Holiday Inn in Hagerstown after 15 years.

She is survived by two daughters, Linda M. Lewis of Smithsburg and Anna M. Nicol of Hagerstown; six sons, Jerry L. Henson of Venice, Calif., Lee F. Henson of Berea, W.Va., Ronnie E. Hines of Maugansville, and Bill G. Hines, with whom she lived, Richard E. Hines and John W. Hines, all of Hagers-

She was preceded in death by eight sisters and two brothers.

A memorial service will be held Friday at 6 p.m. at Gerald Minnich Funeral Home, North Potomac Street, Hagerstown. The Rev. J. Norman Mayer will officiate.

The family will receive friends Friday from 5:30 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.




Mary A. Bishop

Mary Ann Bishop, 71, of Marsh Pike, died Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2002, at Washington County Hospital in Hagerstown.

Born May 30, 1931, in Hancock, she was the daughter of Dorothy S. Yost Wolford McCullough of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., and the late Robert T. Wolford.

Her husband, Floyd W. Bishop, died April 19, 1996.

She was a homemaker.

She was a member of Hancock United Methodist Church.
