Samuel R. Harbaugh

GETTYSBURG, Pa. - Samuel Ray "Sammy" Harbaugh, 61, of Apple Way Road, and formerly of Sabillasville, died Friday, Aug. 23, 2002, at Gettysburg Hospital.

Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at St. John's United Church of Christ, Sabillasville, where he will repose from 10 to 11 a.m. The Rev. Janet Comings will officiate. Burial will be in Blue Ridge Cemetery, Thurmont, Md.

The family will receive friends today from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Robert E. Dailey and Son Funeral Home, Thurmont.

Catherine G. Oliver

Catherine Grey Oliver, 88, of 14014 Marsh Pike, Hagerstown, died Sunday, Aug. 25, 2002, at Avalon Manor Nursing Home in Hagerstown.

Born March 21, 1914, in Kosciusko, Miss., she was the daughter of the late Ayers and Millisant Merchant McMillan.

She was employed by the State of Maryland with MCTC as a nurse, retiring in 1977.

She was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army as a nurse.

She was a member of John Wesley United Methodist Church, Hagerstown, and the Circle One and Wesleyan Sunday School Class of the church.

She was a member of Funkstown Homemakers Club.

She is survived by her husband, Warren Oliver; two daughters, Jean Beyer of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., and Ann Lashley of Hagerstown; one sister, Elizabeth Beard of Houston; and four grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Ruby McMillan; and one brother, James McMillan.

Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at John Wesley United Methodist Church, Hagerstown. The Rev. Kenneth S. Valentine will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Hagerstown.

The family will receive friends at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, Hagerstown, Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.




Kathy Jo Shindledecker

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Kathy Jo Creager Shindledecker, 39, of 11502 Orchard Road, died Sunday, Aug. 25, 2002, at Waynesboro Hospital.

Born Dec. 1, 1962, in Waynesboro, she was the daughter of the late C. Donald and Bertha M. Brown Creager.

She was a 1980 graduate of Waynesboro Area Senior High School.

She was employed by TAB Books, which was purchased by McGraw Books of Blue Ridge Summit, Pa., for 15 years; and at Ingram Book, Chambersburg, for seven years as a returner.

She was a former member of Evangelical Lutheran Church of Waynesboro.

She is survived by her husband, John H. Shindledecker, whom she married Aug. 25, 1984; one daughter, Leann N. Shindledecker of Waynesboro; two sisters, Kimberly S. Creager of Waynesboro, and Connie R. Creager of Rouzerville, Pa.; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, Waynesboro. Pastor Ted Keckler will officiate. Burial will be in Quincy Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Kathryn L. Bailey

QUINCY, Pa. - Kathryn L. Bricker Bailey, 83, of Quincy United Methodist Home, and formerly of 9109 Wayne Highway, Waynesboro, Pa., died Sunday, Aug. 25, 2002, at the home.

Born April 10, 1919, in Franklin County, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Carrie Bonner Bricker.

Her husband, Edward W. Bailey Sr., died Aug. 31, 1973. They were married March 17, 1937.

She attended Gap School.

She retired from Waynesboro Hospital after 17 years of employment as a housekeeper.

She was a member of Waynesboro Bible Church, sang in the choir, worked with church camps Camp Tohiglo and Camp Joy-El and helped with vacation Bible school.

She volunteered at Waynesboro Hospital.

She is survived by two daughters, Constance G. Bell of Falling Waters, W.Va., and Faye J. Benchoff of Waynesboro; one son, Edward W. Bailey Jr. of Waynesboro; two sisters, Eleanor Rowe of Waynesboro and Sylvia Wagaman of Fayetteville, Pa.; three brothers, Carroll Tracey, Arnold Bricker and Monroe Bricker, all of Waynesboro; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, June E. Bricker, Alberta Whitlock and Marie Barkdoll; and four brothers, Leo Bricker, Lawrence Bricker, Lester Bricker and Daniel Bricker.

Services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at Waynesboro Bible Church. Pastors Robert L. Fitz and Carroll Churchey will officiate. Burial will follow in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, Waynesboro; and at the church Thursday at 9 a.m.
