Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Calvary Assembly of God Church, Waynesboro. The Revs. Dawn Newsome, Walter Stuart and Croft Pentz will officiate. Burial will be in Beautiful View Cemetery, Washington County.

The family will receive friends today from 6 to 9 p.m. at Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, Greencastle, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Calvary Assembly of God Church, 116 Snider Ave., Waynesboro, PA 17268.




Ruth S. Glassford

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Ruth Silver Glassford, 80, of Martinsburg, died Friday, Aug. 23, 2002, at City Hospital.

Born July 15, 1922, in Bunker Hill, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Frank and Bertha Grubb Glassford.

She was a retired International Ladies Garment Worker, employed by Perfection Garment Co. for more than 30 years.

She was a member of Full Gospel Pentecostal Church.

She is survived by Kenny Kearns, Bill Kearns, Richard Kearns and Judy Kearns, whom she helped raise; and many grandchildren.

Services will be Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg. The Rev. Raymond Jones will officiate.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.




Justin E. Boyd

CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. Justin Emmett Boyd, 27, of Charles Town, died Saturday, Aug. 24. 2002, at University of Maryland Hospital, Baltimore.

Born July 9, 1975, in Winchester, Va., he was the son of Emmett R. Boyd Jr. of Charles Town, and Linda Wisecarver Vickrek of Winchester.

He attended James Wood High School, Winchester.

He was employed by Pitts Tree Service, Winchester.

He was of the Methodist faith.

He was a former Jefferson Jr. wrestler and had been active in 4-H Dairy Club, Jefferson County, W.Va.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by paternal grandmother, Viola M. Boyd of Charles Town; maternal grandparents, Glenn and Jean Wisecarver of Winchester; one sister, Nicole Boyd of Stephens City, Va.; one stepsister, Rachelle Woodling of Middleway, W.Va.; one brother, Stephen Boyd of Middleway; and two step-brothers, Aaron Woodling of Inwood, W.Va., and Gregory Woodling of Charles Town.

He was preceded in death by paternal grandfather, Emmett R. Boyd Sr.; and an infant brother, Robert L. Boyd.

Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, Charles Town. Lay Minister Jimmy Walker and Henry Christie will officiate. Burial will be in Edge Hill Cemetery, Charles Town.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Marvin K. Burker Sr.

BOONSBORO - Marvin K. Burker Sr., 72, of 8 Ford Ave., died Sunday, Aug. 25, 2002, at Washington County Hospital.

Born March 6, 1930, in Boonsboro, he was the son of the late Raymond F. and May Lillian Virginia Lowery Burker.

He was employed by Columbia Gas of Maryland for 29 years, retiring in 1990.

He was a member of AARP.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Pauline V. Burker; one daughter, Sandra K. Rhodes of Boonsboro; four sons, Jerry L. Burker Sr. of Ft. Pierce, Fla., Rickie D. Burker of Hagerstown, Garry L. Burker of Smithsburg, and Earl L. Burker of Fairplay; one sister, Catherine Kennedy of Hagerstown; three brothers, Jacob Burcker of Hagerstown, George Burcker of Clear Spring, and Franklin Burcker of Cavetown; and grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son, Marvin K. Burker Jr.; one sister, Mary Spidle; and one brother, John S. Burker Sr.

Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Bast Funeral Home, Boonsboro. The Rev. Donald L. Myers Sr. will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.




Jane A. Heflin

MCLEAN, Va. - Jane A. Heflin, 78, of McLean, died Saturday, Aug. 24, 2002, at Arlington (Va.) Hospital.

Born Sept. 1, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Josephine Chagkor Stelmack.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William H. Heflin.

She is survived by six sons, Gary W. Heflin of Haymarket, Va., Michael V. Heflin of Fairfax City, Va., Rodney D. Heflin of Sterling, Va., Kevin C. Heflin of Falls Church, Va., and Dennis L. Heflin and Curtis M. Heflin, both of McLean; one sister, Irene Smith of Martinsburg, W.Va.; and six grandchildren.

Services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery.

The family will receive friends today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.




Anna I. Swartz

Anna Irene Swartz, 79, of 10038 Pleasant View Drive, Hagerstown, died Friday, Aug. 23, 2002, at Washington County Hospital.

She was on the board of directors at Hagerstown Block Co.

She volunteered at Grace Academy and Heritage Christian Academy, teaching the alphabet and sign language.
