Patrick L. Metzler

MCCONNELLSBURG, Pa. - Patrick Lewis Metzler, 55, of 637 E. Pine St., died Saturday, Aug. 24, 2002, at Fulton County Medical Center.

Born April 5, 1947, in McConnellsburg, he was the son of the late Lewis E. and Sara M. Mellott Metzler.

He served in the National Guard.

He was a member of American Legion Post 561 and VFW Post 655, both of McConnellsburg.

He is survived by two daughters, Tracie Ashman of Harrisonville, Pa., and Tonya Metzler of McConnellsburg; two sisters, Paige S. Metzler of Portland, Ore., and Panya Peck of McConnellsburg; three grandchildren; and one nephew.

Services will be private.

Arrangements are by Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home Inc., Harrisonville.

Samuel R. Harbaugh

GETTYSBURG, Pa. - Samuel Ray "Sammy" Harbaugh, 61, of Apple Way Road, and formerly of Sabillasville, died Friday, Aug. 23, 2002, at Gettysburg Hospital.


Born Jan. 4, 1941, in Waynesboro, Pa., he was the son of the late Jesse Martin and Nelda Fitz Harbaugh.

He had been employed by Clarie Frock for 11 years, and then for 19 years by Eastalco until his retirement.

He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ and an honorary member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, both of Sabillasville.

He was a member of United Steel Workers of America Amalgamated Union, Local 7886, and coordinated bus trips.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia Peters Harbaugh, whom he married Sept. 1, 1962; three daughters, Annette Delaplaine of Gettysburg, Melissa Allamong of Smithsburg, and Loretta Hahn of Emmitsburg, Md.; one son, Adam Harbaugh of Biglerville, Pa.; one sister, Connie Horn of Point of Rocks, Md.; eight grandchildren; two step-grandsons; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at St. John's United Church of Christ, Sabillasville, where he will repose from 10 to 11 a.m. The Rev. Janet Comings will officiate. Burial will be in Blue Ridge Cemetery, Thurmont, Md.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Robert E. Dailey and Son Funeral Home, Thurmont.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made in his memory to American Heart Association, 839 Quince Orchard Blvd., Suite E, Gaithersburg, MD 20878; or Covenant Farm Inc. ( a riding center for terminally ill and chronically ill children), 10919 Haughs Church Road, Keymar, MD 21757.

Corinda L. Martin

Corinda Loreen Martin, 1 year and 7 months, of 19534 Reidtown Road, Hagerstown, died Saturday, Aug. 24, 2002, at her home from injuries received when she was accidentally struck by a farm tractor.

Born Jan. 18, 2001, in Waynesboro, Pa., she was the daughter of Japheth L. and Lavonda J. Horst Martin of Hagerstown.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by one brother, Lewayne L. Martin, at home; maternal grandparents, Mylin E. and Darlene F. Horst of Maugansville; maternal great-grandparents, Donald H. and Esther M. Martin of Hagerstown; paternal grandfather, Wayne E. Martin of Hagerstown; paternal great-grandmother, Anna Martin of Hagerstown; paternal great-grandparents, I. Landis and Anna Strite of Hagerstown; foster paternal grandparents, Nathan D. and Naomi C. Strite of Williamsport; and cousins.

She was preceded in death by paternal grandmother, Delores J. Strite Martin.

Services will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Paradise Mennonite Church near Hagerstown. The Revs. Darrel Martin, Dale Horst, Enos Rudolph and Wilmer Eby will officiate. Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, Greencastle, Pa., and at the church one hour before the services on Wednesday.

The family requests that flowers be omitted.

Goldie C. Hockenberry

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Goldie C. Hockenberry, 81, of 29 W. Catherine St., died Saturday, Aug. 24, 2002, at Chambersburg Hospital.

Born Sept. 14, 1920, in Burnt Cabins, Pa., she was the daughter of the late William Dallas and Annie B. Shore Carlin.

She was a homemaker.

She was of the Protestant faith.

She is survived by her husband, Bruce K. Hockenberry, whom she married in 1943; two daughters, Marlene K. Mull of Fayetteville, Pa., and Nancy L. Lindsay of Greencastle, Pa.; one son, Roger L. Hockenberry of Lewisberry, Pa.; three sisters, Nelda Snyder of Shade Gap, Pa., Ferne Runk of Willow Hill, Pa., and Violet Pool of Fort Loudon, Pa.; 10 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Darlene Hockenberry; four brothers; two sisters; and one infant sister.

Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Fair Ridge Assembly of God, Shade Gap. The Rev. Belvey C. White will officiate. Burial will be in Fair Ridge Assembly of God Cemetery.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, Chambersburg, and Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church.

William E. Wolford Sr.

WILLIAMSPORT - William E. "Bill" Wolford Sr., 84, of Millstone Garden Apartments, died Saturday, Aug. 24, 2002, at Reeder's Memorial Home, Boonsboro.
