The Hoffmans

Irwin and Edith Hoffman of Waynesboro, Pa., celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Dec. 30, 2001, at a party at Waynesboro Country Club, hosted by their four daughters and families, Candy and Phil Lowry of State College, Pa.; Kay Hoffman of Waynesboro; Ann Hoffman of Lynchburg, Va.; and Lisa and Rob McCoy of Hagerstown.

The Hoffmans were married Dec. 30, 1951, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Hagerstown by the Rev. Boyd Hamm and the Rev. J. Edward Harms.

Mrs. Hoffman is the daughter of the late Marybelle Hoffman.

Mr. Hoffman is the son of the late Irwin and Mary Hoffman. He retired after 29 years as an agent for Erie Insurance Co. and served 20 years in the Maryland House of Delegates.


The Shives

Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Shives of Hancock celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with family, June 14, 2002, in the Argosy Room at Tortuga Restaurant in Hagerstown.

They were married June 14, 1952, at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Hagerstown by the Rev. Edward P. Heinze.

They have three daughters, Sharon Mellott and Carol Grove, both of Hancock, and Teresa Shives of Arlington, Va.

Mr. Shives retired from Mack Trucks in 1986.

The Millers

Arthur C. and Roze L. Miller of Hagerstown celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary Saturday, July 20, 2002, at Morris Frock Post 42 of the American Legion. Seventy-five guests attended the celebration.

The Millers were presented with a resolution from the Maryland Senate initiated by Sen. Donald Munson.

Mr. and Mrs. Miller were married July 17, 1942, at Trinity Lutheran Church by the Rev. Wilson P. Ard.

The Millers have four children, four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
