Vehicle checkpoints planned in Jefferson

August 23, 2002

CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - The Jefferson County (W.Va.) Sheriff's Department and Charles Town Police Department will be setting up vehicle checkpoints on Aug. 27-29 throughout the county.

The purpose of the checkpoints is to find motorists who have been living in the state for more than 30 days and are operating vehicles with out-of-state license plates, according to Jefferson County Sheriff Everett "Ed" Boober.

Violators will be issued a warning and then instructed how to get West Virginia registrations, drivers licences and a personal property assessment form.
