I-81 south from Hagerstown to exit 1, Md. 68 north, to right on Potomac Street (U.S. 11) to Williamsport

Free parking at U.S. 11 and Springfield Lane

Today

5:30 p.m. - Town picnic in Byron Memorial Park

7 to 10 p.m. - Free pool party at L. Beard Miller Pool

7 p.m. - Williamsport Community Band Concert at bandshell in Byron Park

Friday, Aug. 23

6:30 to 8 p.m. - New Horizons Band, Canal Basin

Saturday, Aug. 24

21st annual Gary Brown Memorial 5 mile run benefits Student Athletes of Washington County

7 a.m. - Registration; 8 a.m. - Start

10 a.m. to 5 p.m. - Arts and crafts market at Byron Memorial Park; pony rides; Williamsport Memorial book sale; fire prevention trailer, sponsored by Williamsport Volunteer Fire Company

8 to 11 p.m. - Barn dance. Admission fees are $4 in advance for ages 12 and older or $5 at the door. In the restored barn at the rear of Byron Park. Caller is Rob Caruthers. Hayride through town.

Saturday

10 a.m. to 1 p.m. - Pioneer Band

10 a.m. to 2 p.m - Author James Rada will sign "Canawlers," a novel of life on the C&O Canal

1:30 to 4 p.m. - Gilmore Light Ensemble

5 to 8 p.m. - Hangfire Band

Sunday

10 a.m. to 1 p.m. - Pioneer Band

Noon to 2 p.m. - Author James Rada will sign "Canawlers," a novel of life on the C&O Canal

1:30 to 4 p.m. - Gilmore Light Ensemble

Springfield Museum, 12 Springfield Ln. behind the pool, will be open Saturday and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m.

C&O Canal Day Museum, 139 W. Potomac St. adjacent to Cushwa Basin, will be open Saturday and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m.

Rocky Ridge Band will perform Saturday.

Trolley rides to the Canal Basin will be offered Saturday and Sunday. Tickets cost $1 each way, and are free for ages 5 and younger.

Information and trolley ride tickets may be obtained in the Community Building.
