August 20, 2002

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. - The sixth annual American Cancer Society Fall Classic is Friday, Sept. 27, at Cress Creek Golf and Country Club in Shepherdstown. Proceeds from the annual fund-raiser are used to continue the fight against cancer in the Eastern Panhandle.

This year's classic will feature an afternoon flight only, with a shotgun start scheduled for 12:30 p.m. The tournament format, a modified four-person scramble, will allow each golfer to bring a partner. Golfers can only choose one partner and the teams will still be handicapped.

Prizes will be offered to the top five placing teams.

Committee members include Janeen Baker, Ken Barton, Mary Alice Bowers, Al Dickenson, Gary Fleming, Barbara Harless, Montie Hicks, Gil Lockwood, Teresa McCabe, Gina Miller, Chris Rankin, Chad Sinsel and Karla Troppman.
