SAVANNAH, Ga. - Julio Pavon wiggled out of two first-and-third jams and Bryan Carter hit a two-run homer as the Hagerstown Suns defeated the Savannah Sand Gnats 3-2 on Friday night.
Anthony Pannone (8-8) went five innings for Hagerstown (24-30). He allowed three hits and issued five walks. He also struck out six.
Kevin Alexander led off the Suns' first inning with a double and took third on an error. He scored on Derin McMains groundout.
Tyler Von Schell stretched his team-high hitting streak to 13 games with a fourth-inning double and scored on Carter's opposite-field homer, his 13th this season.
