Department of Social Services

Lisa A Ross has been hired by the Washington County Department of Social Services.

Ross will be executive assistant to the department's director, David A. Engle.

Ross is a 2000 graduate of the Franklin P. Perdue School of Business at Salisbury (Md.) State University, receiving her bachelor's degree in business adminstration.

Ross previously was employed as an executive assistant at Airpax Corp. in Frederick, Md.

Meadows Agency of Insurance

BOONSBORO - Nationwide Insurance announces that Jim Meadows, principal of the Meadows Agency of Insurance, has earned the 2002 Champion Award.

The award is presented to agents who have attained excellence in sales of automobile, homeowner and other property and casualty insurance products, as well as life insurance and other financial services products. Meadows was one of about 450 agency principals to earn the award this year.


In recognition of his achievement, Meadows and his family were invited to Nationwide's 2002 Conference of Champions in Cancun, Mexico.

Brent C. Yost has joined the staff of Saunders Financial Services as a junior partner.

Yost received his bachelor of science degree in accounting and his master's of professional accountancy from West Virginia University.

TCA TrustCorp America

Gerald M. Driscoll has joined TCA TrustCorp America in the capacity of senior vice president and senior trust officer.

Driscoll served in a similar capacity with F&M Bank for nine years. Prior to that, he served with Hagerstown Trust Co. for 20 years.

TCA TrustCorp America is at 111 S. Potomac St. It is a trust affiliate of Ferris, Baker Watts Inc., with an office on the second floor of the building housing Ferris' Hagerstown office.

Rental Service Corp.

Mike Lowery was selected Employee of the Month for July at the Hagerstown branch of Rental Service Corp.

Lowery has been employed as a semi-truck driver at the facility for five years.

Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage recognizes the following associates for their achievements in July.

- Cynthia Moler was the top sales associate by settled volume and by settled units. She was also the top listing sales associate by volume and by units.

- Jeanne Pino was the top selling sales associate by volume and by units.

D.M. Bowman

WILLIAMSPORT - D.M. Bowman recognizes two employees for reaching milestones with the company.

- Sam Kennedy, chief information officer, is celebrating his 30th year with the company.

- Douglas Field recently reached the million-mile mark in his driving career.

Field, a part-time driver for Williamsport Vans, was hired by D.M. Bowman in February 1992.

Strickler Agency Inc.

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - The Society of Certified Insurance Service Representatives (CISR) and the Society of Certified Insurance Counselors (CIC) have announced that Lori A. Baker of Strickler Agency Inc. is the 2002 Outstanding Customer Service Representative of the Year for Pennsylvania.

To qualify for the honor, Baker submitted the winning essay on the topic "The role of a CSR During a Hard Market," and has demonstrated outstanding service and professionalism within the insurance community.

Baker is a personal lives customer service representative with the Strickler Agency, and has been with the agency for 22 years. She earned her CISR designation in 1994, her Certified Professional Insurance Women (CPIW) designation in 1997 and her CIC designation in 2000.

Baker serves as president of the South Central Insurance Association (SCIA), and has previously served as the association's vice president, secretary and director. She was named the SCIA's Insurance Woman of the Year in 1986.

Charles E. Brake Co.

ST. THOMAS, Pa. - The Charles E. Brake Co. recognizes the following employees who recently reached employment anniversaries with the company.

- Tony Angelo, an equipment operator, has been with the company for 15 years.

- James R. Hendershot, an equipment operator, has been with the company for 10 years.

- Mark R. Mowen, a foreman, has been with the company for 10 years.

- Kyle E. Brake, a laborer, has been with the company for five years.

MDG Companies

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Justin Cowles has been hired as project coordinator for MDG Companies of West Virginia.

Cowles will oversee various MDG projects, including development in the Cacapon South and Cacapon East communities.

Cowles has experience in general contracting and residential construction. He worked for his family's business, Cowles & Sons, in the Eastern Panhandle and northern Virginia. He is also a certified residential building inspector through BOCA, and is studying to be a licensed West Virginia real estate agent.

Cowles received his bachelor's degree from Berea (Ohio) College, and completed graduate studies at Duquesne University's Center for Social and Public Policy.
