Woman found dead in car

August 19, 2002

CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - A woman was found dead in the back seat of a white Honda Civic near the Hidden River subdivision Sunday night, police said.

The woman was found slumped over in the back of the car, which was parked in a grassy area along Opequon Lane off W.Va. 51 near the line dividing Jefferson and Berkeley counties.

Police were not sure what caused the woman's death. Jefferson County Coroner William Miller responded to the scene and was expected to examine the body later at Jefferson Memorial Hospital, Jefferson County Sheriff's Deputy Mike Dumer said.

The woman was found by a man who was fishing in the area, Dumer said.

The woman was described as being white and in her early 40s, Dumer said.
