Helen W. Stuter

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Helen Waugh Stuter, 93, of Berkeley Springs, died Saturday, Aug. 17, 2002, at Valley View Nursing Home.

Born Jan. 24, 1909, in Morgan County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Thomas W. and Evelyn "Eva" Lenora Everett Waugh.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur M. Stuter, in 1966.

She was a practical nurse at War Memorial Hospital in Berkeley Springs.

She was a member of Church of Christ.

She is survived by a sister, Helen W. Orr of Berkeley Springs; a brother, Ray E. Waugh of Berkeley Springs; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Fred W. Waugh, Jack T. Waugh and Jesse W. Waugh.

Services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Hunter-Anderson Funeral Home, Berkeley Springs. Pastor Clarence McDowell will officiate. Burial will be in Greenway Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mildred P. Gainey

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Mildred Poole Gainey, 86, of Berkeley Springs and formerly of Burtonsville, Md., died Friday, Aug. 16, 2002, at Morgan County War Memorial Hospital, Berkeley Springs.

Born Oct. 4, 1915, in Burtonsville, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Alice Bean Poole.

She was a graduate of Eastern High School in Washington, D.C.

She retired in 1980 from Fleischer's Jewelers in Mount Rainier, Md., as a saleswoman.

She was a member of Union Chapel United Methodist Church in Berkeley Springs.

She was a member of AARP.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Philip Andrew Gainey; four sons, Thomas O. Gainey of Glen Dale, Md., Jerome P. Gainey of Bowie, Md., William H. Gainey of Mechanicsville, Md., and James W. Gainey of Berkeley Springs; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Effie Teets and Catherine P. Cook, and a brother, Wilbert Poole.

Services will be Tuesday at 4 p.m. at Rendon-Hale Funeral Home, Lanham, Md.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home in Lanham.

Private burial will be in Union Cemetery, Burtonsville.

The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, Berkeley Springs, which will open at 11 a.m.

Lester Keller Jr.

DILLINER, Pa. - Services for Lester "Pat" Keller Jr., 76, of 332 Pa. 2011, formerly of 1119 Kuhn Ave., Hagerstown, who died Friday, Aug. 16, 2002, will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.




Anna M. Duckwall

GREAT CACAPON, W.Va. - Anna Marie "Heady Bell" Duckwall, 66, of Great Cacapon, died Saturday, Aug. 17, 2002, at Winchester Medical Center, Winchester, Va.

Born Sept. 18, 1935, in Berkeley Springs, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Willard Allen and Edna Charlotte Adams Bohrer.

She attended public schools in Berkeley Springs.

She was a homemaker.

She was a member of the Chapel of Praise in Warfordsburg, Pa.

She was a member and past commander of the Ladies Auxiliary of Morgan County Chapter 34 DAV and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Risinger-Stotler VFW Post 4109, both of Berkeley Springs.

She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Carl Vernon Duckwall; seven children, Barbara E. Stoffel, Carol S. Powell and C. Dennis Duckwall, all of Great Cacapon, Reva M. Hill of Needmore, Pa., Cynthia D. Baker and Joyce K. Brown, both of Williamsport, and Darla R. Boblitz of Gettysburg, Pa.; three stepchildren, Julia A. Pearson of Winchester, Darlene P. Rhoades of Hagerstown and John T. Culver of Florida; four sisters, Mary L. Parkinson of Martinsburg, W.Va., Rita Higgins of Berkeley Springs, Anna M. Foote of North Carolina and Dora Wynn of Alabama; 18 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, Berkeley Springs. Pastor Jack Hiles Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Great Cacapon Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, which will open at 9 a.m.

Waunita E. Jamison

BOONSBORO - Waunita Elizabeth Jamison, 79, of 7722 McClellan Ave., died Saturday, Aug. 17, 2002, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Dec. 28, 1922, in St. James, she was the daughter of the late John L. and Nellie Bloom Lewis.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leavit Jamison, in 1968.

She was a homemaker.
