Suns swat Sand Gnats

SAVANNAH, Ga. - The Hagerstown Suns parlayed a four-run second inning into a 5-4 victory over the Savannah Sand Gnats Wednesday night in the South Atlantic League.

Hagerstown (22-30) got on the board on Justin Knoedler's RBI single. Miguel Miranda drew a bases-loaded walk for a 2-0 lead. Then, Scoop McDowell hit a ground ball that eventually scored two runs. One run scored on the grounder and, while Savannah threw the ball away trying for a double play, another run scored.

Savannah (20-31) scored one run in the bottom of the second to cut the Suns' lead to 4-1.

A Branden Florence RBI single in the fourth have Hagerstown a 5-1 advantage.

Then, in the bottom of the sixth, Savannah scored three runs against Jason Wadell, who was making his debut for Hagerstown.

Leiby Guzman allowed only one walk in three innings of relied for his second save of the season. Starter Brion Treadway improved to 5-3.
